When I was a kid, we used to love finding old cabins and line shacks. We'd search around and find the dump. Usually, it was in the nearest gully. Then dig through it to find treasure. You'd be surprised how well some things were preserved, and what an old tin Log Cabin syrup can will bring in an antique shop. Old Vicks bottles were also money.

Also July POW Island. The humpbacks were thick there this year. Never saw one last year, same week, and this year we couldn't get away from them. One pair scared the hell out of us they blew so close to the boat. Like 10 feet close. And we saw one bowhead, but I was too slow on the shutter to get him on digital negative. The bowhead was a surprise, and the first that I've seen, although, I am hardly a whale watching aficionado.
