Coral if 1) yellow separates red and black, and 2) no red on tail.
If red and black touch then not poisonous.
I used to think there was something about a black nose but can't find that now.

This was about as big around as my little finger, pretty fast, and 12 inches in front of my sandaled toes b/c I was looking for a lost phone on the trail. Like most wildlife sightings (Mojave rattlers don't count), this one wasn't interested in me and skuted off fast to hide in the rocks. Rock climbing later that day was a little spooky.

I miss northern NV.! Lots of hidden Gems and open country at least in the 80's & 90's. Lived in Winnemucca & Elko
I know what you mean. I don't get out as much as I once did. Hard to get a tag for anything these days. Love to explore Nevada. This photo is in the far north west, looking down on Surprise Valley.
