I had planned to build a pedestal base about like the one in your last photo, but never got around to it. Same goes for this kinda matching mount of Coues deer. So they sit on matching end tables on each end of a couch now.

My favorite picture from my snow hike.
Here's a little phone camera photography tip I learned that has been helpful numerous times.
I intentionally stood in the shadow of the tree. The tree balances the lighting by filtering the direct sunlight enough for the phone to capture the rest of the scene accurately (foggy valley, snow glow, and frosty trees [not silhouetted])
