Hey everyone! Pennsylvania native here. Started hunting the West every year the last 4-5 years. Every day i have thought "one day i am going to move out West"

Well with no kids in my later 20s.. I am finally making it happen. I am going to hunt my September tags in CO and Idaho, come back to PA then make the move in mid October! Already have a job lined up and hoping to lock down an apartment on my way to my elk hunt.

I know a few guys in the area but am always looking to connect with more people. I am also huge into ultra running as well and cannot wait to start getting some miles in in the foothills!

Send me a PM if anyone here is from the Boise area and is looking for someone to hunt with, shoot bows, run some miles, and throw some weights around some time (I literally dont do anything else besides those things I listed lol)

I made a move west 35 years ago and never regretted it. Bear in mind, however, Idaho was less than half as populated as it is now, and Boise is getting flooded with people from the left coast - big time.
True i understand. I am sure best time was years ago. But second best time is ASAP !

Good on you. Moving can seem intimidating but it's really just some short term logistics and then you're done. Late 20s is a perfect time to do it too.

ETA - a lot of guys are probably going to dog on Boise, but it's going to be a great place to be young and single.

Appreciate it man thanks! Yeah some of it I got figured out , house is already sold here. Trying to figure out best way to move all my stuff. Hopin to lock down an apt when I am out there in Sep before my elk hunt. We'll get 'er figured out. One day at a time

Williamsport native but been in the Boise area since '96. You'll love it. Lots of trails and organized runs in the area. Get signed up for the Standhope 100 miler next July. I just did the 30k option and it's a great event in an awesome location.

The best rental rates can require calling a number of places that don’t advertise much or at all. I enjoyed living around bogus basin (road up to the ski area) and Camel Back park in the old part of town since mountain biking and running trails go way up the side of the mountain from there.

Before you are no longer a resident of Pennsylvania, confirm if they have a lifetime license that you can buy that locks you in as a resident hunter forever. That’s how it is in my home state, which is awesome if I ever decide to leave.

Best recommendation is live outside of Boise if you can. Surrounding cities are a little less busy and not as well….. Boise. Welcome to the valley!

Great job making the leap. I have no doubt you will love it. Just don’t tell everyone back home how amazing it is.

Agree Boise is getting to liberal. Outside cities are much more my style. Boise does have more to do though as far as events and places to visit. What is your profession?
