Optics options for 300BLK sbr

Hey RS crew,
I have searched all over RS and am coming up short on deciding what optic to put on a 300BLK sbr build this year. I am planning to shoot all/mostly subsonic, 8” barrel, suppressed. This would be for home defense and small property suburban deer hunting (50 yards or less with most shots 5-30 yards). I am trying to parse out from the below options what would be most reliable for both applications:

-Aimpoint ACO

- Trijicon accupioint 1-4, probably standard crosshairs green dot (is the fiber optic bright enough for darker settings?)

-SWFA 1-4 x24 ss mil

My concern with illumination on all of them on home defense is fiddling with a button when it’s time to go. I would rather eliminate that step but curious for thoughts from you all that have more experience in this realm.

For home-defense, a red dot would be a better choice. For subsonic hunting, I would suggest a dialing turret, as compensating for the exact distance is critical. A red dot option to consider would be Leupold's Freedom RDS with BDC turret. Both that and the SWFA would work nicely for your build.

I have an 8" SBR 300 BLK that uses a Trijicon MRO that I have been more then happy with. Set the brightness level where I want it and let it go. Typical battery life is well over a year on the 3 setting (Sales says 2.5) and I have made hits out to 275 yards using my knee as a rest.

Also, I'm against the norm and I prefer supers particularly the Barnes 110gr round for HD and if I were to take it hunting that would be my round of choice. Subs are more for plinking around in my eyes, but there are plenty of guys who have been successful hunting with subs.

Maybe a tad more zoom than your after, but I have the same rig with a simple red dot.

I am going to upgrade it to the trijicon 1-10 one of these days. I’ve checked it out a handful of times. True 1x and wide FOV, but nice to be able to zoom it up and take some longer shots.

A bit heavier than a red dot though.

This is very interesting, what MRO model do you have?

I have just the standard MRO with a full co-witness quick detach mount from LaRue. I've had it now for closing in on 10 years I believe.

I use a simple Sig Romeo red dot for home defense on my 10.5” 300BO. I do not hunt with it. I have another 300BO upper with a 16” barrel that I hunt with and it has a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8. Uppers are cheap and I recommend getting one for each scenario.

The Sig red dot has a shake awake feature. It sleeps while resting then turns on when the rifle is picked up. The battery lasts years.
