I just uploaded my 680 waypoints from OnX.... They all just say waypoint, so it sounds like I just have to go in and manually edit each one in GoHunt?
Yep, time to house clean. It seems as though there is not really a way to transfer "metadata". I am assuming this is to make the platforms "sticky" and make it a pain to move, but still be able to say "portable" ;)

Bummer!

Looks like I’ll have to spend a couple hours editing the important ones

How often does OnX update their satellite imagery? Hunting in the PNW in timber country and the age of a clearcut is important.

...and is Go Hunt updated more often?

Hard to say. I bet it’s about the same, but GoHunt might have the edge on most recent imagery. Where GoHunt is lacking is quality of imagery.

Lots of there images have clouds, or were taken in winter or early spring months so there is no foliage.

Onx has almost none of that - virtually all their map images are from summer or fall so you get a good idea of what the foliage looks like.

So just got done with a 11 day hunt. Started with GoHunt, bought onX Elite 1/2 through, now at the end I am not pleased with either. My thoughts:
  • GoHunt without off-line Hybrid Maps is a deal breaker ... works on-line, doesn't off-line, how was that not an MVP item?
  • onX seems to be using 2017 maps (as compared to what Google Earth has) and the "contrast" of areas on the ground are far superior to current GH images for "analyzing" in-field. What is weird (see image below) is that some of the images have good contrast, and others look barren. Not sure what the deal is.
  • GH clear winner on adding photo & notes to a waypoint
  • You can Bulk-Edit in GH, onX does not support bulk edit
All in all, I wish GH had off-line hybrid as I could live with the "lesser" map quality. Without Hybrid, I will likely use onX in the field. Sigh, how could they release the mobile app without off line hybrid, just don't get it.

I've only used onX the last few years and do really enjoy it. I've been curious about gohunt but don't want to transfer everything etc

Any thoughts on OnX vs Go Hunt Mapping software? I currently use OnX Hunt and have been for years and have enjoyed all the features. Really not looking to switch, but I like the GoHunt guys and their content and wanted to see if anyone has used both.
ONX all the way, a lot of the glitches have been worked out and it continues to improve.
