It’s not the next anything, it’s just a different iteration of gambling. Gambling is already a major problem for millions of people.

I couldn’t care less if someone wants to enjoy gambling, what WILL be an issue is if online gambling makes it more and more common that games are being affected by players or refs with a stake in the game, or some other variation.

We just saw the massive MLB gambling scandal involving players changing the game to accommodate sport betting bets.

Yeah I think it’s not great. Probably fine if done in moderation… but I hear more than the occasional story about it absolutely wrecking people’s lives. Sister in laws - brother in law was taking out loans against the home and opening up credit cards in his wife’s name to feed the addiction, dude lost everything and ruined his marriage sports betting…

You're not wrong... But it's not just gambling.

I know people who have done that with shopping. And it's been done with everything under the sun that costs money.

For sure, there are plenty of vices that can will consume you and ruin your marriage/ destroy your family, heck hunting/ fishing, golf, even working too much I’m sure would do it, obviously some are more negative than others but if you let anything control you at the expense of the rest of your life you are most likely cooked…
