This is something I've been thinking about for quite a while. Every sports event I watch on TV there are ads for online gambling. I know a young 30 something guy who's into sports. He said he has an online gambling account and dabbles a bit. Recently I heard a guy on TV says that this will become the next opioid problem. Any thoughts?

I know a lot of people who do some sports betting. I’m not privy to their everyday finances, but 90%+ of that group owns their own home, have nice vehicles, and seem to be doing alright. I suppose it’s fine within moderation. If that’s what gets them going, go for it. I have my hunting/shooting that takes my money, so I don’t judge or cast stones.

Yeah I think it’s not great. Probably fine if done in moderation… but I hear more than the occasional story about it absolutely wrecking people’s lives. Sister in laws - brother in law was taking out loans against the home and opening up credit cards in his wife’s name to feed the addiction, dude lost everything and ruined his marriage sports betting…

Got me over here thinking if I can leverage AI to start going rounders on some online gambling.

I worked with a guy who spent half his paycheck on sports gambling. I couldn't get thru to him. It's bad and only going to get worse as it expands. Gambling is no better than drugging or excessive boozing. It will eventually destroy you in one way or another. My parents owned two very busy bars for 21 years, so I have seen the results of all three of these habits firsthand.
