Yea I don’t think most people even know what it is anymore. There are a lot of 257 Robert’s rifles out there though. I see them in the used racks all the time. While it might not sell like the latest fad cartridge it’s been around a long time, the guns exist, and current brass options suck.

Honestly idc if they do I'll use win brass in mine but if we could alternate the 2 yrs each place would run it right it would work

ADG should have already satisfied those 20 people. Peterson should focus on stuff that’s not already available

How many firings can I expect out of the 300 win mag long cases? I'm not firing over max charges, nor do I intend to. I'm working within stated reloading data. I believe I'm on my fourth firing.

While we cannot guarantee any amount of firings due to the variables from setup to setup, we do test fire our casings out to 20 reloads in-house! Using our 300 Win Mag Long casings, if you are meticulous with only a 0.001-0.0015" shoulder bump after the virgin firing, you will likely be able to obtain more reloads than any other Win Mag casing on the market before seeing signs of head separation!

Okay! I'm trying to be very deligent with minimal setback of my shoulder. Aiming for 0.001-0.002". What should I be looking for when it comes to case head separation? What would be the warning signs?

The usual first sign of case head separation is a bright ring around the case roughly 1/4" above the base on the body. This can sometimes be confused as die marks as many dies do not size the entire body. To confirm, you can straighten a paperclip and fold a small 90° at the end. You can then reach inside the case and see if you feel it "catch" a depression in the area the ring is externally. If you feel that, the casing needs to be retired. It's not worth the risk of causing damage to the firearm or yourself!

Yes that is unfortunate. Looks like I’ll have to move to Lapua. This was my last holdout cartridge with Peterson brass since I had such a great load worked up using it.

I also have been pursuing Peterson 338 Norma brass. If anyone out there is switching to Lapua or Sig brass and would like to sell there Peterson brass, I am definitely in the market. Like others, I have a killer load with that brass and do not want to change.

I love the consistency of Peterson products, but due to their inability to continue to manufacture I will definitely have to reconsider using their brass for any future load development with other calibers.
