Ah, the sweet feeling of not drawing. Again. This is year 23 for me for MGS as an MT resident. Good luck to those who pulled the rabbit out of the hat.

I may just eat the tag. The particular score isn't important but I have two bulls in the 330 area and figured waiting to get that next age class bigger is all. The snark here isn't too bad though considering..

My wife & I drew gen elk the last 2 years but didn't draw this year. We also went 0/2 trying to draw cow tags.. but we typically hunt both archery & rifle

Started a new job recently and I'm trying to decide on hunt dates now. This is my second time in Montana elk hunting, im driving from Michigan so I'm accounting for the drive time i had last time. Anybody have input on a better time chunk out of the two options? I'm concerned about showing up for opening/holiday weekend and all the people, but pushing it back two weeks puts me in different weather and the elk already having experienced 2 weeks of pressure etc...

Early season has its merits but I would always choose week 3 and 4 of September. Always.
