Running our last test of the year hopefully get a couple more finished passes. Then next week the geese are going to get it
Good flyers in the launcher but be ready to keep the dog under control (or get in control quick) as typically pen raised quail don't have much strength to them. I have used them in a bird bag to throw bonus/surprise birdsAnybody got good training tips for pointing dogs and pen raised quail? I've shot a dozen or so wild quail but never trained with them.
Got about 10 good fliers with plans to use tomorrow. My pup has been remarkably steady in training but it's been 90% on pigeons and chukar in launchers. My gut says put quail in the launcher as well.
I've got some help. Headed out now I'll try and actually take pics this round.Training by yourself or have help?
Like Johnnycake said!. If themake it 30 yards that will be a loooong way.

SameI think ill take the skunk over the porker, and I've had both.
There are certain gnats in the early season up here that eat my girls' bellies alive and leave bumps like that which then turn into little puss filled pustules.Anybody running dogs seeing any skin irrations this season? My older male is fine but I have noticed my pup breaks out often after working the tall native grass areas. I've seen the same on another guys pup locally.
I suspect it's a seasonal thing. Doesn't really bother my dog but the other guys female has required steroids.
TruthJust to keep it real. Dog training isn't all sunshine and rainbows!
