The only major equipment disappointment was the Vortex High Country Tripod. I was looking for a light weight, no frills tripod since I expected to be hiking with it a lot. The tripod did fit this bill, but it is poorly constructed. The sockets where the legs attached became loose quickly and the flip locks started to slip with no way to adjust them. I did return the first one before the season that had been used on several scouting trips hoping that I had gotten a lemon, but the second one developed the same issues. If this tripod was built better, it would be perfect for my 30x fixed Leupold scope. I may try to fortify these leg sockets with some JB weld or epoxy and see if I can fix these issues.
