Update - PayPal sided with the consumer and their bank. We got taken for $201 ($15 chargeback fee included) for a $93 item that was already cancelled and refunded.

It's not earth shattering. I spent far too much time on it and law enforcement probably won't care much about a petty theft charge.

Safe to say PayPal is no longer an available payment method on our website. In almost 50,000 orders...I have never lost a charge back that was clear and obvious fraud.

I feel like I'm being petty, but rewarding a thief really aggravates the shit out of me.

That really sucks. You're the second business ive heard of getting scammed via PayPal. I bet it happens alot more than what we hear about and for big companies I bet it happens more often than they realize. Thieves and dishonest people suck.

unless the theft is over $1000 no police agency is going to care one bit. even when it is over $1000 they don't really care. Heck i even gave them the name of the thief. long story that occured a few years back.

TandK unless you have an office lady that is just going to not give up, you will spend bucuu amount of time on a fairly small loss. any loss sucks, but the time value of money tells me to move on, on something this size.

Our property backs up to what use to be a Christmas tree farm. We would go over and pick out a live tree then pick it up closer to Christmas, we paid for ours. They had a lot of trees stolen every year. Nothing says Christmas like staring at a tree you sold. I'm sure the same could be said for the presents under the tree.

What i did a few years back on a bad check the guy was not going to pay was this:

I called and let him know that i did press charges. Even though i did not. So the next time he gets pulled over he will have this in the back of his mind and probably freak out alittle bit. or i hoped that is what would happen.
