Noodle Barrel 6UM

Pretty close to the same weight as a .750 taperless.
A .75” is heavier for sure. I just got a PVA .68 taperless 18” and it’s 33.4oz.

PVA doesn’t taper down as quickly as a factory sporter contour or the PBB taperless so a little extra weight there.

A custom length thinner and then flared is going to be the lightest, but more hassle to get manufacturers to make.

Depends on fluting. I just got my PBB .750” taperless 6 PRC barrel. 18”, diamond fluting only weighs 34.6 ounces
Obviously, but the original barrel wasn’t fluted so apples to apples there is no way a non-fluted .75” taperless would be near that weight since a 2” shorter .68” taperless was a smidge heavier.

The old noodle worked

The Nilgai didn't stand a chance.

So does barrel contour really matter? I'm guessing you (Ryan) have used both heavy barrels and now light barrels in the 6UM. Can you see a big enough difference between them to prefer one over the other? If you see a difference what is it and at what ranges? I'm not a weight weeny when it comes to rifles so a few extra ounces does not scare me if a heavier barrel performs better. And this is in reference to a hunting rifle not a bench rest.

My other 6UM is a pound heavier and less accurate than this rifle(group size). I've shot both out to 1400 yards without noticing a drop-off. But honestly, I don't know the answer I would need a bigger data set. I do know animals are in trouble with either rifle.
