Anybody familiar with states that don't mandate a guide for a non-resident sheep hunt, or does such a thing even exist? I also understand a lot of the lower 48 are mostly once in a lifetime deals, but...seems like they would be the only option for a non-res to do such things sans guide.

No guide required in OR, but drawing odds are real steep! I don't think a guide is required in any of the lower 48 though, except WY wilderness or maybe some private! Good luck with getting a tag, we all need it:)

Yeah, seems like everything involving sheep is steep. Terrain, odds, difficulty, but that's what makes it so attractive, right?

Might as well make it even more fun and take a bow.

The only way to get around the guide requirement here in AK is to hunt with a 2nd degree kindred relative that is a resident.

Or live here for 12 months and do what ever you want after that.

Nevada does not require a guide for sheep.

Everybody is spot on..

I believe TX (free guide), AK (guide or close relative), and WY wilderness (guide or resident friend with hunting license) are the only states that require a guide..

So in actuality no state "requires" a guide..

Canada & Mexico do require a guide..

Not really true for AK. It might be semantics from your perspective but there is a Guide Requirement. However, the Guide Requirement can be fulfilled by a 2nd degree kindred relative with a valid hunting license AND must be within 100yds of the non-res when they shoot. Also, some Sheep draws require a signed client-guide agreement when applying for the draw.
