So I am wondering about good quality hunting pants on a budget so as to not pay for the big names of Sitka, Kuiu, First lite, etc. I know they make decent or better clothing. But wondering what budget minded hunter's might be using if not able to spend the big $ for the big names for pants.

I have been using Cabelas microtex for 5-6 years now and they have held up well. Great clothes for the price. I wish they still made the lite version but the regular microtex still available.

What type of temps and activity level are you going to experience? I have some kuiu pants, but i have seen some random, hiking type pants like you might find at REI that feel alot like some of the name brand hunting stuff at a better price

Zion's fit me weird. So try before you buy, if possible.

I picked up the zion this season as a backup. I had lost weight and found out day 1 my primary pants were too big. Wore the Zion 10 days straight and loved them. Got them on sale for $70 as REI. Everybody is different, but worth a look.

i see REI has the Prana Zion on sale. What was weird about the fit. Seems like a 36" waist is an xl. The 34" inseam will be a bit long for me but should be able to deal with it. Just wondering what is weird about how they fit? Thanks guys. Keep it coming.

I saw one youtube video of a kid trying to do a review on the Kuhl Renegades. Pants looked a bit iffy to me, but the young kid doing it was a bit iffy too. Not sure about them for an old redneck:)

Love my kuhl renegades. I also have a pair of kuhl pants that zip off at the knee. They are nice pants too. They just dont have the stretch. Both around $80

I will vote for Microtex as well. Killer durability, dries very fast, quiet, warm enough for cold weather with a base layer, cool enough for warm weather. These pants actually get better with age too. Downsides are that the collect seeds and burrs like crazy and they don't block wind particularly well. I have been using them almost exclusively (apart from wool for cold snow hunts) for close to a decade and still use my first pair.

light weight army surplus with a wool /poly blend. generally dress blues from navy or air force.

i do have heavy all wool winter surplus but dont use them much. gander mountain has had some heavy wool that i really like in cold weather.

microtex is ok in hot weather with no rain.

heavy fleece it ok with no rain too. but the fleece though, warm , will not dry like wool.
