I like the 14x NL as a complement to a 10x best.

The 12x NL is a better compromise for general use than the 14x NL, although I prefer a 10x even more for general use. This is likely because I spend more time with my binocular handheld than not.

For the poster that wanted a 95% tripod 5% handheld binocular the 14x NL is the way to go. It is definitely good enough in the hand for 5% use.
I have the 10slc and went with the nl 8s to reduce the perceived shake. I went back and forth between the 12s and 14s but in the end decided on the 14s since they would be on a
tripod and the 8s for off hand. I suspect I will switch between the 8s and 14s during a glassing session on the tripod. 8s for broad view for movement then the 14s to pick an area apart.

Yep. Can’t quite decide? Leaning towards the 14X since I currently run an EL 10x50 that I can’t see parting with?
Those darn first-world problems.

My 14s arrive this weekend. I’ll post my impressions after I get a chance to get behind them.

So I splurged a couple weeks ago and got the 14’s. I didn’t want to like them as much as I did. They’re absolutely incredible and I am questioning how I ever did it before. This opinion is coming from having a pair of 10x50 el’s on my chest. The forehead rest on the 14 is pretty cool too and I have been able to hand hold them for short periods of time. Color is incredible, edge to edge is incredible, field of view is incredible. IMG_0279.jpeg

I can’t speak for the 12’s but I’m beginning to wonder if a 8x42 and 14’s are the absolute way to go like so many on this website suggest.

Sweet. I’d be jumping up and down like a kid on Christmas Eve!
Look forward to hearing about how you like ‘em?
Exactly. Just noticed delivery is tomorrow instead of Monday and I got excited like a kid. Good stuff.

My 14s showed up yesterday. I haven’t had a chance to look through them over long distances but looking at the creek bottom in the back yard up to about 200yds, in last light , in the pooring rain with a foggy haze the resolving power for fine detail was incredible. Truly stunning. I also have the 8s. They are just as incredible in their own way. FOV is unreal, edge to edge clarity that is tack sharp right to the edges(you have to look for the edges) immersive views, handhold ability and the depths of field is beyond belief. You put them up to your eyes and the entire view is in focus and provides a crystal clear 3d image. They seem to be the perfect compliment to each other but won’t be able truly appreciate them until I’m in the field hunting and scouting.

The 14 can’t and won’t replace the 10x. I get a totally relaxed view in the 10x42 that I could look through all day long. The 14 is awesome for detail but doesn’t have the ease of view that the 10x has for hand held use which is to be expected. When you need the extra detail though it’s nice to have the 14. For Astronomy on a tripod the 14 just kills the 10x42 and that’s why I bought it.

If I was able to hold a bit more steady I probably would have gone 10s as well but I know 10s are beyond what I can handle hold well enough for me to enjoy the view. The ease of view on the 8s is what I was after in my lower power binos. I went back and forth between the 12s or 14s but landed on the 14s for multiple reasons but really I just wanted them. Nice thing about Swaro is that if the power you have doesn’t fit as expected you can always sell or trade them to another power with out a loss.

I use my SLCs in the thick dark timber all the time.

How are the NL Pure's in low light high contrast areas with the smaller exit pupil diameter of the higher magnification models?

Seems the NL 8x42s or 10x52 are an upgrade

But my SLC 15x56 to the NL14s im not gaining much on FOV or low light

From my very limited use of my 14s they resolve incredibly well in low light. I have a pair of SLC 10s and they are very bright. Looking at twilight factor the SLC 15s have a greater factor then the 14s but the 14s have a higher factor then the 10x52s. I don’t know the equation used for twight factor but I know magnification weighs heavy in the factor. I don’t have experience with the SLC 15s to compare to the 14s but the 14s are impressive with their ability to cut through the darkness and resolve detail.
