If they were in my harness, I would go with the 12’s, if I had lower mag binos in my harness, I would get the 14NL

My 12’s just became dedicated tripod glass, I just got the Zulu 6’s and they are just better for off hand glassing.

I think if I was starting fresh today, I would get the 14x NL and 10x Zulu 6 and be set (I don’t have a good enough reason to justify owning a spotter, I packed one a whole year and got it out twice, so I can only speak to the hunting I do)

The NL 12’s are max for hand holding for me, and they are the only 12’s that I have seen that are useful at all offhand, the 14’s would only be used on a tripod for me

I actually picked up some 14’s and some 8x32’s. I had some vortex optics that I sent to have cleaned up and they replaced them both with new so I sold them and bought the 8’s. I looked at the Zulu’s but just wasn’t a fan, I might try to pick up a pair for work eventually but really didn’t like the small FOV. I defiantly think once someone comes out with some alpha glass in a stabilizing platform it will be awesome.

I'm currently using the SLC 15's and am trying to talk myself into the NL 14's. Anyone made the switch and regretted it? (I'm guessing I already know that answer......)

Sounds like a perfect setup👍

I went from Meostar 15’s to NL and love them. I’ve had the meoptas beside the SLC’s and IMO they are so similar that 99% of people couldn’t tell the difference if they looked through them side by side without knowing which was which.

Good to know. I'm just about to hit submit on the order button.......

This is my plan too. I bought the 8x32s a few weeks ago and now I'm on the hunt for 14x52's.

This should cover any scenario I'm in at my old azz age.

They are better in every way. Proceed with confidence if it suits your budget. Not worth going broke over, but definitely better.

I really want 12's to work, but they just don't. IMO they are complete no man's land, and don't do anything well. Too shaky handholding to be my chest carry, and too low of power to pack around for tripod use.

I have the UHD 8x32's and UHD 18x56. I really love this combo.

I ran them for 2 years and couldn’t disagree more, I ran 12s on tripods for years and the increased details gave up nothing to the slc 15s.

I’m running el range 8x32s and 14s now.

I see you're now running what I'm advocating though 😁

No worries. Just one man's opinion.

I like the 14x NL as a complement to a 10x best.

The 12x NL is a better compromise for general use than the 14x NL, although I prefer a 10x even more for general use. This is likely because I spend more time with my binocular handheld than not.

For the poster that wanted a 95% tripod 5% handheld binocular the 14x NL is the way to go. It is definitely good enough in the hand for 5% use.
I've noticed that a lot of you high speed optics aficionados prefer the 10x42 nl pures over the 8x42. I would think that you would prefer the 8x42 when paired with the 14x52, what is it about 10x42 that you guys like so much? Thanks!

Buy them and try them for a season. If they don't work out sell them for a small loss. Or buy used to mitigate the loss if you decide to sell them.

I have 12x NLs with a spotter. Combo is great for me. I'm always glassing when hiking. So 14x would not fit my style.
