I'm pleading ignorance here. Which embargo and how does it impact this? I'm not saying it doesn't. I'm just saying I'm not following you. I will admit to rarely looking at political news with the riflescope trade in mind.

Everyone seems to want a reticle that Bubbles can see in the dark, I personally feel the glass quality is the low light limiting factor.

I'm right handed and my right eye used to be a -4.5 prescription (easily correctable) but after some HBOT treatment a few years ago it settled somewhere between -8.5 and -9 diopters of correction and that's still fuzzy as heck. I can more or less correct it with magnification. I'm considering surgical correction.

Glass quality is absolutely not the low light limiting factor. It's the sucky reticles. Trust me on this.

They have refused every effort to do a correct reticle. At this point it is almost purposeful, willful refusal.

It really, really is.

The MRx would be "acceptable" (to me) if it stopped at 5 mil per side/bottom, didn't have the circle, and only the dot was illuminated.

I see that it's going to be pretty much the only duplex style reticle, if I'm reading it correctly. I would have thought their 3-10 forceplex scopes would be good in the hunting world.

I'm pretty familiar with hunting "out west". I live and hunt "out west".

Then I'm at a loss as to why you can't grasp the problem here. Because at the end of the day a scope that was visible in low light timber out there, while also being workable when you do see that elk at 537 yards on snow, would do what I want here.

I've stated what I believe that I need - enough times to frankly be obnoxious, I will admit, because I want to be heard on this and have wanted that for quite a long time - and I have stated what it would take to make it. I'm not advocating for some unreachable goal that I refuse to define.

It's really disappointing. Nightforce has everything in place to dominate the RokSlide style hunting market (aka effective KISS tag punching). It's crazy to think I'm always the one wanting some sort of custom gear option, when I feel like I'm being completely logical. Maybe it is me, lol.

I’ve been shooting with two prototype NF NX6’s for a while. A 3-18x50mm and the 5-30x56mm versions. Both in MOA as that was the first ones made. We were asked not to release anything until the 14th. We supposedly will get sent one the first production 2-12x versions when finished- having said that, most of the general “feel” of the line is the same between them.

What does prototype mean- in this case the outside of the scope is what production scopes will be. The turret design, glass, etc are all the same. What was relayed was that some parts of the erector system will be different...

"with the new Fine Varmint Reticle (FVR-1™)" I would have to assume varminters, but I don't see who's asking for it. Didn't NF start out as a varmint scope company? One of you with better reticle ideas should get a job at NF.

Well, here's what I can say. I've lived and hunted here my whole life. I hunt a huge variety of public land mountainous terrain and I've been fortunate to be more successful than most. I know what it's like to shoot an elk at >1000 yards on a wide open snow covered ridge top in the sunlight and I know what it's like to shoot an elk in fading light at close range in the timber. What I will say is that I have never missed out on an opportunity at a harvest due to my reticle being "unusable" as you call it. To each their own.

Well, one way to look at it is that if the Unknown scope works out, it will have a lot more support and less market dilution from people buying NX6’s.

My thoughts exactly. If Nightforce would actually listen to the market demand, I’m thinking the Unknown scope wouldn’t have even been a thing. Seeing the specs on this new line, they clearly COULD build the scope we all want. They just won’t for some reason. Their loss I guess

Problem with this one according to all the gas gun guys is donut too small/fat (2 mil from recollection) and dot too big for when going to precision side of mag range...so they came out with the dmx version. Opened up the donut to 4 mil and made the center dot smaller. Much better. The donut gets out of the way nicely as mag goes up and fine aiming is not a problem for center dot now reasonable and not covering the kill zone etc.

But the windage is great and the simple tree also, just dmx the donut and center dot. Or dmx donut add to mil-r.

I’m starting to get the impression that few people here have seen the dmx as it’s only available in the 1-8 nx8/atacr???....it’s their best reticle they just don’t put it into the scopes most guys want which start at mpvo. If everyone seen it and played with it they might agree just get that thing into some mpvo glass and would solve a lot of nf problems.

From there we can then cry to nf about tweaking it down to 6 mil squared lol

The mrx in the only thing close to it. Why they couldn’t add the 4 mil dmx donut to mil r i dunno. The extra 10 mil southward is not hunt focused at all but would be ignorable as it should be the best low mag visible ffp of the whole lot. I assume the moa version same sizing just different unit so should be equal.

The only reason I even bought my first nf was this dmx reticle, hunt only my care and full understanding of where it all gonna happen for me anyway. It could be better and it’s not really the reticle it’s the mag range and exit pupil that needs to shift up and then I’d buy and shut the hell up. These bastards hooked me with this scope and now I want more and now I’m mad like you all haha. Eff you nightforce! Fackin crack dealer...

There was a “do not talk about” until this time and date. A retailer and others went two hours earlier. No big deal just SMH.
