New weatherby 4lbs

Wish they chambered the SA in 7mm08.

But the LA 280AI at 4.4# with a 21" barrel is pretty sweet specs if it shoots and handles well.

The 6.5/25 Creedmoor are very enticing to me as a strictly a backpacking gun. For me, these smaller calibers when in a Uber light setup are much easier to shoot than the bigger recoiling guns.

My guess is that with the appropriate scope and rings, and an ultralight suppressor, you could be sub 6 ready to roll.

Why in the world do we need a 4lb rifle again? Oh, because of gram counting sheep hunters. Oh wait, let’s take a light and hard-to-shoot at distance rifle on a once in a lifetime hunt that costs thousands because we can’t carry in a proper setup. 🙄

because 20 miles carrying a 8lb rifle sucks...and i can shoot my ultralight set up...

For kids who can't carry a heavy rifle because their pack is too full of cool rocks lol

I’ll be honest. I haven’t done 20 miles in a single day. I have done 10 tho. Can’t say my 8lb rifle bothered me at all.

If your hunting is similar to your profile picture, then yeah a 12# rifle would be glorious.

If your hunting mountains at elevation where the air is thin, and your spike camp is 8 miles away downhill, then a 6.5# rifle ready to hunt makes a lot of sense.

But I've never been averse to recoil, I don't seek it out; but for carrying a rifle all day, multiple days in the above scenario for a couple of shots, I'll take a suppressed 6.5# rifle ready to hunt any day.

Yeah a 25 Creedmoor would work great, just trying to avoid another cartridge in the stable, but I already have a 25-06 so it's not too bad adding another shirt tail cousin.

That picture is an anomaly. That scenario was ambushing whitetail doe on a clover field. That’s not my typical hunting
The setup was also a 8lb 223 lol

Hey I’ve packed both rocks and pine cones for these 2.

My 58 year old original equipment knees would appreciate any weight reduction to my pack/gear. I'd like to shoot one of these new featherweight Weatherbys to see if I can shoot it as well as my Tikka that weighs in at 8lbs with scope/suppressor. If I can't shoot it accurately I'll continue to look for weight savings elsewhere. Tried drilling holes in my titanium cook pot and spoon but that was a fail.
