OK....maybe someone can answer this. I'm looking into these rifles in 7mm PRC and was wondering why only 22" and 26" Barrels?

The published loading data from Nosler and Barnes shows 24"....I have not seen anything from Hornady on what they decided the optimum barrel length was when they made the cartridge?

22” for suppressed shooting
26” for max velocity (and most likely a brake)

That’s the trend, mainly with the short, suppressed barrels. I went suppressed last year, so I’m in the short barrel crowd.

Literally just watched that video. Not going to lie - that’s seriously impressive.

Question - I’m a newb suppressor guy. With 80k pressure, are suppressors going to be able to handle it? Mine is rated up to 300 RUM. But 300 RUM is rated at 65k pressure (as most are).

Yeah really was - sorry for the edit, I had thought he was shooting a seekins but it's a horizon. Regardless, super neat setup.

I'm very curious to see actual testing and data on the muzzle pressures. In many cases a faster powder burn rate/increased chamber pressure leads to reduced muzzle pressure due to reaching peak pressure quicker. I could see this going either way.

Cool features that I'm sure will get a bunch of sales.. but for me it's a major miss/failure.
I hate adjustable cheek pieces. It adds weight/hardware i don't want or need. Offer it as an option sure, just don't make it through ONLY option.
Mlok. Don't have any experience with it, but I know none of my bipods will mount to it. So either sell them at a loss, and hope they offer the same bipod that attaches to mlok or buy hardware to mount into mlok, add more weight i don't want or need just to mount my bipods.

They can only offer so many choices practically speaking. I think having a 4" disparity is about right so i think the decision was right on. I was holding out for a shorter barrel which kept me from buying a PH2. I think most people who want shorter would favor either 20 or 22. 22 seems like a reasonable choice. Historically, the trend for max performance from a hunting magnum seemed to be 26" and I'm sure Seekins recognized that there was a market for it (since that's what the PH2 used on long action rifles).

So would a PH3 barrel fit on a PH2?

I'd like the new short barrel on my PH2 for lightweight, and the long barrel on my PH2 matches with the new adjustable stock.

Good question and maybe I missed it but is all their stuff compatible with older models? Like the new stocks/chassis etc?

Definitely not, the headspace is different.

If you want a shorter barrel for your PH2 you can always get a prefit from McGowen for pretty cheap.

My question: Would the ph3 be able to be moved into their folding chassis once they are available to buy individually? Seems like they would.

Wonder how long it will be before other companies start making barrels that will fit.
