New rifle for girlfriend

A word to the wise from someone who's been there... Buy YOURSELF a nice new rifle that she can use. That way, years from now, when the girlfriend is long gone, you will still have the rifle. Win - win. I don't miss that wack job one bit, but I would have dearly missed that rifle!

Great point. .270, 30-06, or .308. After talking with Luke Moffat, I'm gaining a whole new respect for the .308.

.243, 7mm-08, .270, or .308
You can't go wrong.

I do agree with previous poster about getting something that you would both enjoy. Even if the relationship continues, her enthusiasm for hunting may not.

Tikka is the better choice IMO.

I think you are right on with the 7-08 and it will kill anything she will hunt. Got my wife a 7-08 and she enjoys shooting it. I think that is most important. If she is scared of it she wont want to shoot it and wont shoot well.

Well it looks like we will be headed to cabelas to take a look around. As far as getting a rifle we both can enjoy, she's a lefty and I am not lol.

My 257 wtby kicks like a mule.

7mm08. Soft recoil. I'd go with a tikka if it were me.

Another vote for a T3 in 7-08! Shot my first muley with one regret the day I parted ways with it.
I shoot factory ammo as well, not because I couldn't reload but because I found one load that would do practically everything in this caliber AND put 3 shots into half an inch. Nosler Trophy Grade 140gr. Accubond.

Remington Model Seven, 7mm-08
This is a short stocked gun but not a youth model. Even grown men love this gun

My wife shoots lefty too and because her length of pull is short we went with the Browning Xbolt micro hunter in 7mm-08. I shoot it sometimes too just for fun....doesn't matter that it's a lefty to me.

Ended up going down to Cabelas and She really took a liking to the feel of the Ruger American 7mm08, We didn't pull the trigger but I think that's what we will end up with. Thank you to everyone for the suggestions. Daniel

That Ruger may be the best deal there is on rifles these days. If you go with the American, be sure to give us a review sometime. I haven't heard too much bad about it.
