Thank for sharing this necropsy report. I'm having a hard time seeing what is going on with the wound. Other than the fact that the bullet destroyed a lot of the heart and lungs?! Was there an exit wound and if so about how big dia? I'm entering all of this data in a running spreadsheet so thanks ahead of time.

That isn’t heart or lung that is behind the front shoulder/leg on the entrance side, with the front quarter of deer removed

Hello, I thought I'd give a quick update about the status of the new rifle which prompted me to start this thread and for which I have gotten such great advice through all of the replies.

Given the goals for this gun and the feedback I got from everyone I tentatively decided to re-build my old Tikka T3 30-06 as a 6mm Creedmore. However, as hunting season started and my hunting group shot animals with various guns I realized that I have a very, very nice and accurate 6.5 CM and a decently nice and accurate .243 already. Along with a nice 280 AI. So I shifted gears and took some of your advice and decided to build a .223 gun for practice rounds and likely for hunting.

I also shifted gears and purchased a new Tikka T3x Stainless in .223 because I decided I'd stick with the factory barrel until I shoot it out to save money. After building a number of Defiance/Proof/AG Composites and Pure Precision builds I wanted to see if I could build this one on a budget.

So, today I received the gun and assembled the following:

Tikka T3X Lite Stainless in .223 JRTXB312 (EuroOptic) $773
Stocky's Ultra Carbon Hunter VG Stock (Stocky's) $627
Sportsmatch T084 Rings (Airguns of Arizona) $75
Replacement Trigger Spring (Anarchy Outdoors) $10
Trijicon Huron 3-12 x 40 2700003 (EuroOptic) $455
Butler Creek Comfort Stretch Sling (Butler Creek) $31

Total weight- 8.1 pounds
Total cost- $1971 minus whatever I can sell the factory stock for.

Next steps-- Tonight I got the entire things degreased, the trigger spring installed, and the whole thing built, torqued and thread locked.

Next steps-
-want to bore scope the barrel just to see what I got

- want to shoot this gun a lot.

- also willl take 3" off the barrel and thread it, then install a thread adaptor and suppressor.

-need to buy a second larger capacity magazine

-might replace the bolt lever.

Questions:

- I plan on buying 1 case of match ammo for practice. Any recommendaions as to which brands are best?

-When you use nail polish as loctite replacement do you apply it to the threads, then allow it to dry anf then re-install?

The ADI 55gr blitzkings are affordable and have shot well in my tikka 223 and others also. The 69gr matchking version has mixed reviews lot by lot but I haven't seen anyone complain about the 55gr yet. Brass looks of decent quality to reload afterwards and no crimp to deal with.
