The charters I know of down there are in Venice. They do redfish and then tuna fishing. I enjoyed both. Redfish was faster paced, but tuna was crazy fun.

I’ve fished with CJ Rojas a few times. He’s a great guy and runs Rojas Charters.

A buddy and I went with capt. Jason a couple years ago - link below. It was super fun and he even arranged a van to pick us up right at the hotel is New Orleans so logistics were easy.

We didn't catch a ton of fish, but, the driver took what we caught to some little restaurant near the marina afterwards and they cooked it up amazing for like $10 including sides and beer.

Probably just inshore. I'm not a big fan of trolling. Honestly I would look into whatever the good bite is, I know next to nothing about the fishing there.

The storm tore up some of the areas charters launch from. My buddy is shut down right now.

Plenty good options out of shell beach.

Any reputable guide in that are would be good. FWB can be a tough month but……

I fished with a guide out of Delacroix in August, sight fishing reds with a fly rod is amazing. February you're probably looking at some good specks and maybe some snook too. I'd recommend the fly fishing route, great experience, I used Marsh On the Fly and if Captain Peter can't take you out he'll put you with someone as capable. They're pretty good with beginners too so don't let inexperience deter you.

I planned a day of fishing for a bachelor party a few years ago, we took a van service about an hour out of Treme in New Orleans, 8 guys in 2 boats fishing inshore for reds. Most of the guys had never fished before so I wanted to keep it affordable and we ended up having a blast, and everyone caught big redfish on a June trip. I was sort of unsure when we booked and when we showed up as it was a fairly austere operation, but both guides were cool and professional dudes.

I think Susan handles bookings, the site is sort of dated but I'd be happy to PM pics of our trip. Worth kicking the tires on IMO.

Hopedale is the mecca for 30+" pumpkins in the fall...plenty of good folks out there. Always fished/hunted on my own when we lived there.

If you fly fish, that narrows it down your choices a little more, alot of the guides are driving hybrid boats. I'd personally find someone fishing a poling skiff, that marsh can get skinny real quick and it's no fun watching them tail from a few hundred yards away and not being able to get there.

I dont have any first hand experience but I was invited on trip with Home Run Charters. I wasn't able to go but my buddy had a great time. They did both offshore and inshore over four days.

That's on the tail end of the ideal time to go find big bulls in the marsh. I'd look to book with one of the fly fishing guides that run out of hopedale/delacroix. There's plenty of them and a lot of times they'll take you out even if you don't plan on fly fishing.

Check out Ty Hibbs or Miles Larose.

I used Voodoo Fishing Charters back in Aug, they. Did a good job and put us on fish for both inshore and off shore. There are located in Venice but who knows if its still there since the storm. We didn’t troll during out off shore, fished the rigs only.

I took a trip with Big Dog Fishing Charters in late January '21. We got paired up with Capt. Alden who we really enjoyed. January/February can be a really finicky time for reds in that area since the water gets cold and they get lethargic. Alden put us on the fish though and we came back with 14 reds and a black drum between the 3 of us. However, there was another boat with Big Dog that went out that morning that only came back with 2 reds. January/February can just be a tough time to locate the fish, but it was worth the few hundred dollar risk for us. They're only a 30-45 min drive from New Orleans (depending on where you're staying), but I don't know how affected they were by the hurricane. I would definitely recommend a trip with them. I'm trying to find a way to get back in the spring when the fish are more lively.
