New Mexico 26 Draw Results

First time to put in for NM and drew a Unit 16 speed goat rifle tag. Sounds like I should go buy a lottery ticket. Now just need to find out if I want to DIY or hire a guide, any recs?
i’d go DIY. Can help. Hunted archery there a few years ago

After weeks of waiting, and so busy at work today there was no time even to think about it, now I'm finally able to log in, but I'm afraid to look! All these "sea of red" posts got me runnin' scared!

Nothing but red for me. Kind of relieved and excited for a refund. Fall is already full.

All red.

22 years and no elk tag drawn in NM.

Before that, I drew a rifle bull tag my first time applying as a resident in 1999.

The good news is- next year I’ll have a less than 2% chance again!

Gotta love the random draw system.

BRB I’m just going to go look up the definition of insanity

I’m not sure about this guy, but everyone cursing this shitty system and being pissed for not drawing a 1st rifle Gila tag as a nonres with a group of 8 dudes or some shit is old. You could apply 1,000 times, not draw and the system would still be fair!
What outfitter you work for?

I have been putting in for tags across the west for call it 20 years. I have drawn some good tags like region g wyo based on points. Drew my first true long shot lottery tag, on base oryx. Sept 4-6 dates which means if I’m in New Mexico at that time it’s only right to hunt elk somewhere that next week in nm or another western state! Let the research/landowner tag search begin

I been following this thread and laughed until this morning about the delays and child support comments.

First time putting in for NM (NR) and drew mule deer bow hunt in unit 13 sep 1-25. Never done the Western hunting as a hill country Texas guy but I’m pumped! I’ve already done some research and seems like odds of success are low but who cares. I put in for places with what I hoped were decent odds to go experience, learn, and maybe get lucky.

Congrats to all that got a tag!

get a buddy and some radios to walk ya in. Bring a blind if you’re willing to sit water. Be prepared for a shot in your skivvies if it’s hot! It’ll be fun.

my LONG time elk hunting buddy applied with his brother and drew. First time his brother had ever applied. Must be something to that. Ive seen it happen quite a few times.
That's the only way to draw 16a. 1st time applicants get it, and they suck you in for life. It's a scam. and they float money for 2 months, collect all the interest. why, because you drew 16a once. So you're hooked.
