I see oryx daily never had a tag.
That's the same as a paper cut with lemon juice on it.
I see oryx daily never had a tag.
Such cool animals to watch. Have you see any of the bighorn herds down there?I see oryx daily never had a tag.
What type of tags are you putting in for? All exotics, Sheep, HQ/HD hunts with low odds? Pardon my curiosity but 15 years without drawing anything is pretty discouraging.I have been putting in for New Mexico since 2008. I have yet to draw a tag.
This is gonna be my year. I just know it….
It’s all Hail Mary stuff. Gila elk tags for all 3 choices. What type of tags are you putting in for? All exotics, Sheep, HQ/HD hunts with low odds? Pardon my curiosity but 15 years without drawing anything is pretty discouraging.
Well good luck this year. It's hard to gauge people's draw luck in NM without knowing what type of stuff they apply for. You hear some folks say they've drawn 3 out 5 years and then some like yours that are on year 10 or 15 of nothing. For Elk and Deer I apply for 1 or 2 hard to draw tags and at least 1 choice that is easier, plus a few exotics. I've calculated that I should draw *something* I have applied for within a 5 year period. It’s all Hail Mary stuff. Gila elk tags for all 3 choices.
This year I changed it up and made my 3rd choice a “easier” draw late muzzleloader hunt.
This is always my approach as well. Not always Gila, but <1-3% draw odds kind of tags. It’s all Hail Mary stuff. Gila elk tags for all 3 choices.
This year I changed it up and made my 3rd choice a “easier” draw late muzzleloader hunt.
I drew Gila tag on my 2nd attempt. None in Gila since tho.I would love to see some hard numbers on first time applicants. Other than anecdotal accounts is there anything backing up these claims? Enough people are bringing it up that it warrants a hard look.
I have a family member that drew a Gila Elk tag 3/4 years while he was a NM resident from 2018-2021.
Yep, but that's what you get with any lottery type of draw......always the potential that you NEVER draw, especially with the numbers of people applying these days. Odds just keep getting lower and lower every year. Yet many folks keep hating on point systems and want a lottery system. SMHPardon my curiosity but 15 years without drawing anything is pretty discouraging.
I think we debunked that theory last month when somebody brought it up. Many people posted that it didn't hold true for them. Including me. Drew year 3 and 5 of applying.I would love to see some hard numbers on first time applicants. Other than anecdotal accounts is there anything backing up these claims? Enough people are bringing it up that it warrants a hard look.
