New Kimber Mountain Ascent

Just picked up my new 280 AI Kimber Mountain Ascent Mojave. All I can say is it is nice. Comes with a nice soft case and a sling. The stock is a step above my older Ascent, but it's good also.

Based upon looks, I wasn't impressed with the new H-S stock equipped Kimbers. Then I held it. It's a better stock design than the older Montana stock. I'll weigh one this morning if I remember.

How is the recoil?

Do groups open up after a couple of shots?

I shoot 165's and 150 280 AI recoil is minimal. Not that I have seen. This is about average for the older one, have not had time to ring out the new one. I'll do a 10 shot test when I get time.

how is the action on this? is the recoil 270 ish or more? Im thinking hard about this rifle

Recoil is nil. No where near a 270. I shoot suppressed. but even without it its fine. Action is smooth and no issues.

A 6-pound rifle with 7mm Rem. Mag. ballistics will recoil. That's unavoidable. I killed my mountain goat with a .280 Ackley 84L Mountain Ascent, and it wasn't a fun gun to shoot. Lightweight rifles are best paired with low recoil cartridges. The upper limit for me is the 6mm Creedmoor/.243 Win. type rounds. With 16-inch barrels and suppressors, they are a joy to shoot and kill as well as the big stuff.

Most of my rifles are light, I never noticed any heavy recoil. Everyone is different with what perceived recoil is. 308 in Howa superlite with 150's or a Kimber 280 AI with 160's. I have a 5.4 lb Fierce 6.5 PRC pleasure to shoot.

Both my kimbers have a he dnz one piece mounts. I want lighter rings but I’ve had talleys damage my scope before, the DNZ seems like a good option. I was thinking of cutting that metal bar out of the middle of the dnz mounts but havnt gotten around to it.

If it's lien they're new 2k11 pistols it should be legit. The new ceo and team seem to be knocking it out of the park.
