How much is he going to charge you to do this? Seems like a good option for a budget Kifaru for those looking to get in for cheap. Old Duplex + Icon Pro 7200 could come in under $500. Looking forward to checking it out. I have some ACU fabric (I think 500D) if you would like some to make the sleve if Jon (or you) don't have something better.

Cant say for sure yet he needs to look at it all before he prices it for me. I told him Id snag the material and send him the pack so before any work is done he will call or email to make sure we are good on price. Stove jack cost me 70$ including shipping to have it sewn into my Hex 3 from him so Id imagine around there or less. This is less stitching the Stove jack was.

Just make sure you are extremely clear about what you want done and you are confident you are both on the same page. I would suggest marking the pack with a fabric marker exactly where you want stuff. John can do great work but just make sure you are in complete agreement on what is to be done. PM me if you would like further details :)

I replied to your PM. My issue wasn't with a pack. Again, I think John can do some great work. Just make sure you are very clear about exactly what you want and you get everything in writing.

SHTF,

Happen to know if an EXO bag can fit on the new Kifaru Duplex? ;)

I have a EXO 3500 bag on my bikini frame so I am sure it would work on a duplex new or old. I had to make a few modifications to get it where I considered it done right. But the EXO bag will hang from a kifaru frame and attach on the sides with the compression straps just fine without having to make any permanent alterations.

I already spoke to Jon at Bearpaw he said he has no issue sewing on the Sleeve to the Kuiu Bag for me. So I think Im going to go that route with the 7200 Bag.

SHTF, thanks for the great photos and trying this out. I am very anxious to see how the 7200 works as I'm hoping to go this route too. Curious though since I haven't seen how the Kifaru bags attach with the sleeve, why are you looking to have a sleeve sewn into your 7200 instead of just mounting it the same way as you did the 3200?

I think the concern is weight and the weird way that top Grimlok is attached in order to get the bag to ride high enough. You could certainly do it the same way, but I would be careful weight-wise how much I put in it.

Tried to call and order a frame Friday for this set up but no answer and a full mailbox. Guess they were out hunting.

Why all the concern over attaching to the top loops? Isn't this the same place the kifaru meat bag hangs from? I thought Aron mentioned having almost an entire boned out deer in that meat bag. Top straps from the last cargo panel went there also I think.

I don't think it would be an issue as far as handling weight. Would look like an overall cleaner setup but I don't see it being cheaper then a kifaru bag at $200 plus shipping for the Kuiu and then another $70 to sew a sleeve. Just another option but it will be close to $300 for a 7200ci bag which is similar in price to the big Kifaru bags, the modified Kuiu will probably be void of any warranty.

Guess what I'm getting at is if it fits is just run it for the lower overall cost and warranty.

Tim,

I agree which is why Im going to give it a try with just the straps and maybe the Ghooks to keep it attached to the top. I should have the bag Wednesday. Cant wait

So the reason I am concerned is that it isn't the same top loop as the game bag or cargo panel; it's the one on the opposite side that is intended to be used for the load lifter (which is the same one that I use, but SHTF already addressed this). My main concern with the weight of the bag will be pulling the loop in a direction that it was not designed. It may work fine, but just a concern I had. I agree; at $270 it runs about the same as a DT1 so I'd rather deal with Kifaru for the same price. The thing Kifaru doesn't have a lot of is 3200 size day packs (for the duplex) and that's what I think makes it a lot more appealing.

I agree no options for smaller packs really but I have a feeling that will change, they have had a ton of changes on big bags and frames, time for a smaller bag unless they plan to come out with a new big bag every year.
