Well ya... they better make it right at these prices and with their reputation. I am sure they will, but that should be expected. Still a pain in the ass. Hope they don't cut any QC to get these things out faster.

Bright side... He can trade it in for the new version.

Really based on the description of the problem pack shouldn't even need to be sent back, kifaru can easily mail out a replacement shoulder harness. Pretty much if the problem isn't on the frame the other stuff can't be fixed super easy like a belt etc.

But if it is within the 30 days he can return it and get inline for the new frame.

Every company makes mistakes, Kifaru included. Its what they do after that mistake that matters. Kifarus customer service is second to none. Case in point. I called and asked about the shoulder strap, they offered to overnight a new one to the customer, the customer didn't think he could put it on. So he is mailing the pack in. I am sure it will be fixed and back within 7 days total. FYI its real easy to put shoulder straps on, 3 minutes tops.

I am sure QC is getting beat right now at Kifaru:)

Replacing it himself would of been a great op to really learn/figure out his pack prior to a hunt. I'm sure Kifaru will get it back ASAP.

Just an FYI, I'm not trying to badmouth Kifaru. I am a proud owner of a duplex/emrii myself. I love my pack and it is still in top shape after a year of use. well worth (in my opinion) what I paid for it as long as it continues to hold up. Just stating an issue my friend had with his brand new pack. I know mistakes can be made by anyone. I'm also "guessing" that kifaru is really cranking out production faster than they used to, hence possible QC issues? Again that is/was only my assumption. When you make the investment in a piece of gear like that your expectations are very high. when you aren't rich its a big deal. The people at Kifaru are fixing the issue.

Got my order in for a Coyote Ultralight Duplex. Now the dreaded wait for it to arrive.

Sorry everyone, but I've been in the mountains for a few days, helping a friend on his sheep hunt.

Anyway, as far as Kifaru shipping out products faster these days, nothing has changed in the QC & assembly process. What has changed is the efficiency in how they do it and the fact that we keep almost everything pre built.....EVERYTHING BUT SHOULDER STRAPS AND BELTS.

The reasons we don't keep the shoulder straps and belts pre built is because they're a royal PITA to QC and take the most time during the entire QCprocess. Keep in mind that the human eye/touch can only pick up so much and the shoulder straps specifically have a lot of hidden stitching.

Kifaru is also much larger than we were a few years ago and we also ship a lot more packs each month; for example, we shipped out 328 packs in June of 2014, and out of those 328 packs we've only had 3 come back for warranty. These numbers have been about the same for the last 10 years (1-3 % warranty annually/per year company wide). These issues were taken care of for free and done very quickly, as we know you've spent a lot of money for a Kifaru product and want each customer to be 100% satisfied.

So, in reality, it wouldn't matter if we had a 12 day, 12 week or 12 month lead time, we are only human and something will be missed at some point. We do however take great care in making the customer happy and fixing whatever issue may arise.

Hopefully this explains thing better and also give everyone an idea of how Kifaru ship times/lead times have dropped in the last couple years.

Thanks everyone and feel free to call me with any questions!
