The big debate in the other thread is whether that will decrease or increase the # of folks competing for the same tags.I hated the random number deal as well. But it sure was nice to not have to buy a license to apply.
Heck I didn’t see the other thread. Yeah I could see that. The big debate in the other thread is whether that will decrease or increase the # of folks competing for the same tags.
Yeah, if it had to change, I would have rather they do a complete upfront charge and refund (minus app fee) to the unsuccessfuls, like they do for OIL. The reason I would have rather seen this is that I think it would have resulted in fewer applicants for the April OIL and the June deer-elk-pronghorn draws. However, I don't believe IDFG will ever switch to complete upfront charge for deer and elk. In their media releases, they are really pushing the April and June draws as a benefit of buying a license. It won't affect me since I'm a resident, but I think the number of NR applicants in those draws will skyrocket and NR draw odds will go way down.I hope they make it where we have to front the $$ for the tags too. Refunds come when the tags are all spoken for.
People bitched about not wanting to come to Idaho to buy their tags.....reap what you sew.
Ehhh... I see both sides to this one. Dudes that just want to hunt a elk every year and apply for the lower demand zones would get screwed with that. On the other hand folks just wanting to hunt ID once a twice a decade would benefit.I wish they looked at more than the first choice before moving onto the next applicant in the draw.
yeah I'm not saying all 5 choices, but just first and second...first choice if you catch lightening and second choice if you're one of the first 15k that would take a mid tier unit.Ehhh... I see both sides to this one. Dudes that just want to hunt a elk every year and apply for the lower demand zones would get screwed with that. On the other hand folks just wanting to hunt ID once a twice a decade would benefit.
Have you ever waited for an Idaho sheep refund? That can take MONTHS post draw and it’s a live check. I’m fine with them taking tag $ if they figure out the refund process.I hope they make it where we have to front the $$ for the tags too. Refunds come when the tags are all spoken for.
