Got one ordered, now I wait. Unfortunately there probably be a decent amount of snow here by the time I get it. Can still set it up in the garage

I'm excited to see what the more solid material inner, 2 person will weigh. Provided the solid inner went up a ways, maybe half way ish, I'm hopeful with the right pitch condensation could be mitigated as well as spindrift for occasional snow limited. If so and kept reasonable on weight, I'll likely consider it against the TT Arc Dome. One of them will likely get ordered next summer!

Pre-production models with a ferrule issue. Not the poles that will come with it per Durston’s follow up response.

I’m curious on pricing. Is durston buy once cry once quality?

IMO …NO!

For the price point, ($250 for X-Mid 1 2 yrs ago), I’ve throughly enjoyed my X-Mid. It’s an entry level price, with upper level quality. I’d definitely pay more, if I had to do it over again

My X-mid gets the most use of my 4ents:
1) Durston X-Mid 1
2) Kifaru Sawtooth w/stove
3) Hilleburg Nallo 3GT
4) 14x17 Wall Tent

I wish Durston gave an aluminum pole option. I'd take the 4-6 oz weight penalty. Keep the carbon cross strut

Alright I set this up in the garage because I don’t want to deal with snow in AK. I left it setup in case anyone has any questions.

First, this is my first time with a Durston tent or buying from them. I had some questions when I purchased this tent, and someone got back to me promptly with answers, that is something I appreciate.

First to the specs I got on my scale, so there will be some margin of error. Durston lists the weight of the x dome 1+ on their sight at 34.7 oz. Without stakes and ground sheet. Below are my weights.

Tent body in stuff sack: 25.57 oz, 18” x 5”

Poles: 9.88 oz, 20” x 4”

Ground sheet: 3.84 oz

I have my own stakes but Durston does provide a small bag for them.

I used some of my own gear to give you guys some reference to sizes and space. I used a reg/reg neoair xtherm xlite nxt pad, Stone Glacier Chilkoot 15 bag, Stone Glacier Sky Talus bag and a PSE Mach 1 32”.

I’m confident I could get this tent into a xsmall SG compression sack. Everything lays out easily and is pretty intuitive to setup. The first time you set it up you have to connect the inner to the fly, from there you can leave it for combined setup if you choose.

There is for sure a lot of space for gear inside the tent and in the vestibule area. I’m 5’ 8” for reference.

The clips on the fly are J clips that clip on easily over the poles.

There are loops at every corner for tie down lines. A number of people have brought up it would be nice to have 2 at each corner for a total of 8 lines. Dan has already acknowledged this request and had stated in one post the future tents will have extra line locations.

Me too. I emailed asking if aluminum poles would be an option but he said “no, since carbon has the best strength to weight ratio”.

Looks like I'm going to be buying myself a Xmas present.
I've got the xmid 2 and cant say enough good about it. But the freestanding feature is very attractive and I love the inner layout.....so will miss ginger.

Yep freestanding is a bonus for sure. I didn’t mention it but there are two attachments for trekking poles on either ends of the cross bar to add rigidity in high winds. SG has this same feature in their tents and in my experience it works well.
