My dad bought a power stroke a few years ago that was a Canadian import. Put 120k additional trouble free miles on it. Only reason we knew it was Canadian was because of the sticker on the A pillar. Truck was sold a few years ago and is still kicking as far as I know. What's the deal with all these low mileage 2 year old canadian import trucks? Mostly f150s but I've seen a few others as well.
They are aggressively priced. Usually 2k less than non imports.
Google tells me during covid people were buying from Canada, keeping a year and trading in for more than they paid. Then dealers in lower 48 were getting them cheaper up there than they could down here due to exchange rates.
It probably doesn't matter, but seeing a 2 year old truck with 3 or 4 owners just raises red flags to me.
Anybody have real world context for this? It seems like certain dealers have import trucks nearly exclusively.
I don't know why they are here, but from what I understand there are some differences in menu options/features for some brands/models. I would make sure there isn't a significant difference. What's the deal with all these low mileage 2 year old canadian import trucks?
Lots of dealerships here (Utah) have them. Even the big chain dealerships associated with a brand will buy them and import them. It’s good inventory that’s priced a few grand below book value of a comparable US truck, gets people in the door and expands their reach to other buyers.Where are you seeing the Canadian trucks pop up?
They have to change them over once importedDo the Canadian ones still come configured in KMH? I know some people that use to buy Canadian vehicles back in the early 2000s and everything was in KMH. Not that it really hurts anything, just curious.
I'm told it can be changed over within the vehicle.Do the Canadian ones still come configured in KMH? I know some people that use to buy Canadian vehicles back in the early 2000s and everything was in KMH. Not that it really hurts anything, just curious.
