Trucks are too expensive you should keep your old one and just keep fixing it. Or buy a bigger used and keep fixing that one

Well…… I bought a 2020 F150 XLT with the 5.0 V8 this past week haha! She’s a beauty. Drove her back from Phoenix with zero issues. Mileage was 21 mpg. Shifting has been smooth.

What's the deal with all these low mileage 2 year old canadian import trucks? Mostly f150s but I've seen a few others as well.

They are aggressively priced. Usually 2k less than non imports.

Google tells me during covid people were buying from Canada, keeping a year and trading in for more than they paid. Then dealers in lower 48 were getting them cheaper up there than they could down here due to exchange rates.

It probably doesn't matter, but seeing a 2 year old truck with 3 or 4 owners just raises red flags to me.

Anybody have real world context for this? It seems like certain dealers have import trucks nearly exclusively.

My dad bought a power stroke a few years ago that was a Canadian import. Put 120k additional trouble free miles on it. Only reason we knew it was Canadian was because of the sticker on the A pillar. Truck was sold a few years ago and is still kicking as far as I know.

My brother has a Canadian import F150 right now. He got it for a screaming deal relative to comparable domestic pickups. I wouldn’t be scared of one, it’s no different than a US pickup. As long as it’s got good maintenance history and drives good and fits the budget I wouldn’t hesitate.

I don’t fully understand it, but the “multiple owners” thing is because you have the original owner, the exporter, and the importer ALL recorded as owners. So 2 of them had to register it in their name to get it across the border legally.

I don't know why they are here, but from what I understand there are some differences in menu options/features for some brands/models. I would make sure there isn't a significant difference.

Where are you seeing the Canadian trucks pop up?
Lots of dealerships here (Utah) have them. Even the big chain dealerships associated with a brand will buy them and import them. It’s good inventory that’s priced a few grand below book value of a comparable US truck, gets people in the door and expands their reach to other buyers.

The savings can be significant. My brother and I have twin F150’s. Same year, almost identical configuration, same mileage. Mine is a Utah pickup for its lifetime, one owner from SLC who traded it back in at the dealership it was purchased from. His was a Canadian import from a dealer, but was owned by one guy in Calgary it’s entire life before being imported. I paid $4k more for mine than he paid for his.

Do the Canadian ones still come configured in KMH? I know some people that use to buy Canadian vehicles back in the early 2000s and everything was in KMH. Not that it really hurts anything, just curious.

They have to change them over once imported

Only difference between a commies truck and a Americans is the scream of the bald eagles while shooting AR15s in their American flag underwear with a handgun in the other hand with a suppressor on it.

I'm told it can be changed over within the vehicle.
