I do it about like you do it, I enjoy it.I’d stab myself in the face with a soldering iron before I did load development like most of y’all do.
Unknown is $1350 just for load development? It’s a Nightforce NXS compact on a rail in Farrell rings. The scope isn’t the problem. It’s also the third or fourth scope that has been on this gun and they’ve all shot similar mediocre groups.
As for paying for load up development, I know it sounds crazy. But for me, it’s at least a half day affair each time back-and-forth to the range. Time is money. I don’t mind reloading, once I know the ideal recipe, but I really do not enjoy the experimentation process. I find it frustrating and time-consuming when I would much rather be shooting for fun and/or hunting, or even working and earning more money!
I’d pay $500ish, but $675 for Hammer is getting up there. And worse yet, twice that for Unknown Munitions is just nuts!
Me too...now.I do it about like you do it, I enjoy it.
I pretty much do too and this one gun has still driven me crazy. I can’t find a powder/copper bullet it likes. I don’t normally have this difficulty. Tried h4350, RL22, H4831. Hammer 110, Hammer 124, Barnes 120 and 127, and Hornady 120 GMX. Load to mag length. Load a couple charges at mid range and a couple on up to warm, just to be safe, then a handful of rounds just shy of max. If I get something around moa ish, then I start tweaking a bit or leave it alone, depending on the intended use. I never got close to consistent moa with this barrel so it’s bound for the tomato garden. Moving on.I do it about like you do it, I enjoy it.
Close to it…Unknown is $1350 just for load development?
A friend dropped his off at Moa but he is also having them make a bunch of 300 rum so ir was a pretty penny.

It must include some ammo. But it is vagueClose to it…
Better be a case of ammo!It must include some ammo. But it is vague
Maybe try calling MOA if you don't mind supporting BeckBetter be a case of ammo!
In this case a different barrel. Just ordered a Bart 2b I hope will fit the stock.Does load development sometimes involve a different rifle?
I have a Sako in 338WM that I can’t get a good group on. Not really the one I want to shoot hundreds of times.
My solution was a T3x in 30-06.
Unfortunately, I do mind. Not a fan.Maybe try calling MOA if you don't mind supporting Beck
Friends rifle isn't done yet but he said so far they have been good to deal with.
They are in my home town and I've never set foot in there.Unfortunately, I do mind. Not a fan.
You pretty much nailed it. I realize I am high maintenance. I’m willing to pay, to a point. They are in my home town and I've never set foot in there.
Unfortunately if you already have a worked action and you are providing the barrel, you have really taken alot of skin out of the game for the Smith.
Then since copper is a requirement I kind of think you are backed into a corner of doing it yourself or paying alot.
But if you factor in what a mechanic costs. $125 ish per hour.
It wouldn't be hard to imagine them having 10 hrs into load development.
You pretty much nailed it. I realize I am high maintenance. I’m willing to pay, to a point.
Not going creed. Thanks for the offer.I offered you the cheapest option you'll ever get. But ya gotta go 6.5 Jesus and use a very specific smith (he's local to me). Just sayin...
Came here to suggest Kevin as well.Weaver Rifles in Peyton Colorado does gunsmith work and load development. I have been ver happy with his work.
