I have a buddy that told me to ask this on here because he only has Facebook.

"I have a trip planned next month for Turkey in Nebraska. Obviously wildfires have scorched half of the state. But I plan on going to the Northwest part of the state pine ridge region. Any information if the wildfires had affected this region or not or any other tips before going out?. I had another user on a different social media platform Tell me that I better just stay home. I'm just looking for more opinions. Thanks"

Inciweb shows all active fires. The big fires in Nebraska do not show up anywhere near the Pine Ridge on inciweb. It does show a recent prescribed burn.

Inciweb maps wildfire activity daily if you are wondering. Onx imports these layers regularly and has and active fire layer.

Nothing in the NW part of the state so far, that part of the state burned heavily around 2011/12 most recently. Quite honestly there isn’t hardly any fuel load left in much of pine ridge.

2024 was the last time I hunted pine ridge and it was horrible. Over harvest prior to tag restrictions and a bad winter really hunt the turkeys there. It’s the last quarter of the state I would target unless I had private access.

Where would you advise him to go I instead?
