My new portion sizes

Tonight marks the first time that I am putting two whitetail backstrap portions in each vac seal bag, instead of one.

While one use to be enough for my wife and I, we now have three young kids that love to eat “meat candy” for dinner. It felt odd to be putting two portions in each bag now, makes me feel super blessed. Sad to think there will be a day when there will only be one portion going into each bag again, but I’m sure by then I’ll be ready for that chapter 😂

I've raised 5 kids on deer and elk. I have 3 left in school....but don't think them adulting will change the consumption. Now the older ones go home with a grocery sack.
 
A good feeling to be sure! My son is only 9 months old but already loves his puréed elk meat.
Just moved my family to Mi from WA. Out there, we filled the freezers with bear meat. 2 OCT tags, long seasons, and lots of bears.

All three of my kids first meat was black bear, going to miss having it in the freezer! But can’t beat the mid west for filling freezers on deer meat that’s for sure! Congrats on becoming a father, he will be smashing his own steaks in no time!

That’s cause they know their dad is a true killer! I hope when my kids eventually leave the house I’m able to provide them with the same luxury when they visit.
 
I’m a single guy so I portion my game for just me. I do portion things like stew meat in som larger portions as I use that at camp feeding more than myself and even if
I use it at home I wouldn't cook just one portion of stew.
Everything changes. I’m a older guy 63. Seems like Era’s come and go. I feel I am in the middle of a change right now with some if my hunting buds who are all older than me aging out.
