If you had to pick one week to hunt zone 2, what’s days would you pick?
My preference would be to fly in on August 29 or 30, hunt 6 days, and fly out on Sept 5 or 6 - these were the dates I used on almost all of my 40 Mile caribou hunts. The bugs never seem to be too thick when I flew in at the end of August, and the weather was getting nice for hunting. The moose season in that part of Alaska generally runs from September 8-17, so the 40 Mile flying days get pretty hectic starting around August 6 onward, when they start flying a lot of moose hunters into the field.

That would be awesome, huh? Sorry I can't help you there...as I read/interpret the 40 Mile website, I can't pass my spot onto someone else.
I don't know hoe serious BRTree is, but we could buy a party with you in it and then you could "cancel"?

Really enjoyed your write up and sharing your experience! I bet it was bitter sweet. That same weather seemed to continue on through about the 18th when I was trying to get out of the field from that region of the state. Getting excited, wife and I will be going in August 24th for bou with 40-mile. Been a long time since I’ve been on one of their bou hunts, I’ll get to relive some old memories and excitement.

Yea it was the most precip (rain and snow) I ever saw in all of my hunts in the 40 Mile country.

Good luck on your hunt! Post story and pics when you get back, I will be living vicariously through others this year lol.
