Muzzleloader suppressor

I’m an idiot and make poor choices, let’s get it out there up front lol. I have been kicking around the idea of a can on my 45 smokeless muzzleloader that I have to run BH209 in to hunt with. There are several option I’ve seen that would “work” but most except a JK armament I can’t take apart to clean. Blackhorn is a really clean BP sub but it’s not quite smokeless clean so the ability to clean the baffle stack is pretty important.

Any ideas on a 6 inch or so serviceable can?

I built a 30 cal form 1 several years ago but that was the Wild West and fuel filters/solvent traps/sauce cups were everywhere and it appears that’s gone by the wayside.

Aren’t most black powders water solution based cleaning? Seems like soak it (maybe an ultra sonic cleaner) and pour without disassembly. That’s what is done for Titanium non serviceable cans using a CLR like solution to dissolve the carbon.

It’s more of a really dirty smokeless than a clean black powder if that makes sense. Typically I’m not going to shoot more than 10x in a session, usually 3-5 so it can’t get that dirty in a session. I probably would do several sessions before cleaning the barrel, but not sure if the can would catch more

How do you plan to go about loading? Remove the suppressor each time?

I am trying to move towards only owning guns I can suppress but I can’t see myself not owning a muzzleloader so this is something I’ve pondered a little also.

Never gave much thought to the cleaning part. I also shoot BH, figured some kind of solvent in an ultrasonic would keep it clean enough.

Funnel with a long stem.

Hankins makes a long load through funnel. I’ve got a brake and need to use one anyway.

I considered the long funnels but I’m not sure how interested I would be in carrying a funnel long enough to accommodate a 7-9” suppressor in the field.

Ultimately for me the juice probably isn’t worth the squeeze for the one week a year I carry a muzzleloader.

Curious to see what you come up with though.

That’s why I was thinking a shorter can. A 4 port brake has to have a funnel anyway, adding 2-4 inches on top of that isn’t awful.

The rifle in question

I'd love to see how this works out, please keep us posted on your experiences with it.

Also, what are the details on that rifle? Make, parts, etc?
