Mtn ops questions

. I haven't quite figured out why people bash companies for marketing. Sitka, KUIU, Kifaru,Danner, Kennetrek, etc. You know these brand names because of marketing.

I am not saying anything against the companies listed but good marketing does not equal a good product.

Is there much benefit from the supplements for someone that is just starting to get into working out more? I know that I still have more "natural" potential to achieve. I do not really need just an energy drink to get going, more of things that would make cardio performance better and strength reached faster than just working out harder and more while eating healthy. Does it all have a high sugar content?

No sugar in Yeti or Enduro. I would suggest that you start with Enduro and see how you like it. I noticed a drop of 20bpm for the same treadmill workout once I added Enduro. http://www.rokslide.com/forums/nutr...ng-mtn-ops-enduro-pre-workout.html#post458499 When I lost over 100lbs I started without any suplimentation, but after about 60lbs I noticed my weight loss start to slow down a little and added a thermogenic called MX-LS7 that is no longer made that helped the rest of the way. However, I will warn that when you first take one you will have a hard time sleeping for the first week or so. If your goal is to build muscle, Yeti also has Creatine which will help build muscle bulk. If you just want an energy boost Blaze may be a better option.

"This pre-workout will make you kill bigger bucks"

"This pack will make you kill bigger bucks"

"This broadhead will make you kill bigger bucks"

"This quad-cab diesel will make you kill bigger bucks"

(Hint: none of these things will make you kill bigger bucks)

Nothing new to see there.

Just weird to me to see these two worlds colliding. Indoor gym-rat body builder meets outdoorsman.

They seem somehow opposed to each other. Artificial, processed & synthetic supplements vs close to nature wholesome, raw.

That's like a guy who eats paleo, but still drinks Monster Energy for breakfast and smokes camels.

I guess it was inevitable.

There are some haters in here! If you don't like it or want to you use it that's fine. But what's fake about pushing your fitness level. Just because someone ,like me, spends time in the gym shouldn't mean I'm any less of an outdoorsman. I choose to use products and supplements that improve my ability to push my limits. I use MTN OPS because they work for me. I understand that some people aren't into things like this, they eat natural and go at it a different way. Good for them. We are all hunters, all in mountains for the same reason. I don't care if you workout 5 days a week in a gym, climbhills with packs on eating almond butter and organic beef jersey it all good. Incidentally if you think MTN OPS is a supplement company geared to bodybuilding then you haven't researched them very well.

Here's the thing with supplements as far as I'm concerned:

Yes, MTNOPS markets the hell out of their product, but they're also in one helluva competitive industry who are all selling the same snake oil (face it, none of this shit is going to be super effective because if it is, it'll be illegal pronto). The only thing that they can do is differentiate on price, customer service, or "image". I used supplements in the past that I've purchased from GNC, Naturtyme, etc. I can get the same thing for the same price from a company that supports hunting and if there's an issue I can email Casey or Jordan and get a response.

So I get it from MTNOPS.

Not a consistent user of any supplements but I think....

1- I think if you use Mt Ops you'll kill bigger deer..... it's science.

2- isn't it facinating that brands with faces or owned by actual people that sell premium priced products get the most critic for their success or market impact....

I like coffee with my snake oil
But seriously, you can't beat the nutritional value in the AMMO, and the other MTN OPS products.

I'm also not sure why people get bashed when they are awesome at marketing their product. They still are great people making a great product. They actually walk the walk, and talk the talk. They hunt and fish, and want to get into the best shape they can for hunting season. Just like us. I do know Casey and Jordan. They are AWESOME people. I know first hand, they REALLY CARE about creating a quality product. This makes me want to support them even more. Honestly, how often is it you can find good people that make a good product? It's usually one or the other, not both.

They are everywhere on social media. The reasoning for this is the way they market which is actually quite ingenious. This is deduced and I don't know from first hand experience that this is how it works, but I'm pretty sure that it's right. They give anyone with any influence (like a podcast or website like this one) a 20% off coupon code and if someone uses their code then they get a kickback for that order. This is why I will rotate through the codes for the things that I like to support: Rokslide (ROK20), Gritty Bowmen(GRITTY), Alpha Bowhunting(ALPHA), etc. It's kinda like a commission based system for advertising. Therefore they get a ton of advertising because of this as it's in that person's best interest for you to use their code when purchasing. The problem with this is that there are a lot of us that can smell commission based sales from a mile away and it's a major turnoff, which is why most retailers have gone away from it and that places like Carmax are doing so well. IMO I think that this advertising model was the major reason for their quick growth, but they are losing a lot of perspective customers because of it as well.

Most companies use these 'promo codes' for marketing purposes. This is a really easy and cheap way to figure out which companies are sending you the most customers, so you know which one to keep advertising with. Rokslide is not getting a 'kickback' for the amount of money you are spending on MTN OPS products. When you type in 'ROK20' it just tells MTN OPS you heard about them from Rokslide. I can't speak on other companies, and their referral or kickback systems, which may be how you described it. Companies are actually supposed to disclose if they are getting any type of commission or kickback when talking about a product or company, that is why you will see a lot of product disclaimers on blogs, so you are aware they may receive compensation if you use their link or promo code.

"kickback" is the wrong word but it's in the forum's best interest to push use of the promo code to make sure MTNops sees the advertising price as justified.

RS is a free forum, so it does have to charge for advertising. It is no different than businesses running ads in newspapers or magazines with their promo codes, except you have to buy the newspaper or magazine subscription. As a RS you are benefitting in two ways; 20% off MTN OPS AND free membership to RS. So, Win win for everyone!

Like one person already said, MTN Ops can't help who uses their products anymore than any other company. So sometimes its the "flat billed hunter", don't knock them for it.

Ive been on MTN Ops since March. Before I was skeptical but a few friends are in their staff so I went ahead and tried it. My real job is track maintenance for BNSF. Usually up way early in a hotel room working on the road and don't get back until late some nights. With thier Yeti it gives me the extra smooth boost I need to push myself past my limits in the gym training.
I have a circulation condition called TOS, the Enduro seems to have helped it quite a bit. Also does help getting more out of my cardio work.
After training I take a scope of Magnum with some farm milk. My recovery the next day is great, not as sore along with using Phenix. Also I think my training has also helped with this.
Not sure on Ox or Blaze. I don't really feel much difference while on it. However I tried a second bottle of Ox and now we're blessed to have our third child, sssooo there's that...
My buddy is a helluva hunter and earlier this spring he was boowhoing MTN Ops and all the hunters on SM getting into fitness. A few weeks ago he asked me about it and he ordered some for himself. He's lost like 15lb and was like yep, you're right!
The big thing when your buying MTN Ops is you value what you invest your time and money in. I don't want to skip a day if training (other than a rest day) because I spent so much on the supplements to help me train harder than I could alone. I wish I had MTN Ops 10 years ago when I was trying to get into the Olympics for air pistol!
Disclaimer-Im not on MTN Ops promotional staff, I don't recieve any kick backs for posting about how good the stuff is. I just know that now I can carry 125lb for four miles on the treadmill, squat 300lb (Ive only been squating for a couple months) and Im less sore the next day even with training all out. I went to a railroad health screening today and my cholesterol and blood pressure were way below average. A few years ago I was trying to donate plasma and they told me I had too much cholesterol! So I must be doing something right!

I can tell you from first hand experience that Rokslide will NOT take on an advertiser just because they are willing to pay. This should be very evident if you look at the banners and sponsors page. The sponsors of this website are here because Ryan and Robby and the other staff believe in and use their products. I truly believe that Rokslide is the best place on the web for hardcore, honest reviews of gear.

I use Yeti and Ammo meal replacement. Ammo is by far my favorite, it has natural ingredients and actually fills me up. I haven't had a shake actually be a meal replacement that filled me up. As for yeti, I haven't noticed a huge difference between it and some of the other pre-workouts ived used. However, Mtn Ops is a hunting based company, real people (from what ive seen), and supporter of public lands. It is because of this that they will be getting my money in the future. And as for the gym selfies and marketing, whats wrong with people wanting to be fit. Its not going to hurt when you have to pack meat off the mountain.

I used to train extremely hard and took a few supplements. This was before supplement companies marketed towards hunters. I figured out which companies were legit and which sold crap. I never bought everything from the same company because different companies had better vitamins then others, but another company had a better fish oil or protein etc. Some seemed to help some didn't. But like mentioned above if I spent money on it I was not going to skip a gym day.

So my thoughts are if Mtn Ops has a comparable product and price to other companies why not support a company that supports hunting? And yea I'm sure there is a lot of placebo effect just like with anything. But if it helps people workout more from either being an effective product or because it's placebo then it's a win.

Regards, Branden

i didnt want to post a new thread but i have some questions about mtn ops and supplements in general and wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction:

1. does mtns ops make a product (or any brand doesnt have to be mtn ops) that I could substitute for coffee in the morning? coffee dehydrates me and i talk a lot at work and it sucks. i dont work out til the evening just looking for something with caffeine to get me going int he morning.

2. Also is there a mtn ops product (or any brand) that i could use as a substitute for breakfast in the am? the ammo looked decent.

maybe im misguided in what i am looking to use these supplements for as Im not looking to use them to charge up for a heavy gym workout or maybe not. feel free to suggest somethng besides mtn ops too. also i work out to lose weigth not gain weight im trying to get back into shape. figured an am meal replacement might help out nutritionwise
thx

For a morning coffee replacement I like to take Yeti or Blaze from MtnOps, or I also drink a lot of Spark from Advocare. I get more of a boost from the Spark but I prefer the Yeti if I'm going to work out in the morning. The Blaze is great if you want a small energy boost that lasts but don't want a jolt. I feel that all of these help with my focus as well.

I have been using Ammo mixed with whole milk for my breakfast all summer and really like it. I think it's one of the best meal replacement shakes out there. The chocolate is great by itself or with bananas but I think the vanilla kinda sucks by itself. I prefer it blended with strawberries, Enduro, or Spark for flavor. Fruit punch Spark and vanilla Ammo are my favorite all around.

From a product perspective Mtn Ops is just like alot of the other competitors in the supplement industry. The benefit of purchasing a product from Mtn Ops or Wilderness Athlete is that you're doing business with hunters...and in my book that's a good thing. I'd rather support our "brothers" who generally have our best interests in mind than some massive company that couldn't care less about the hunting/backpacking industry.

I take Yeti every morning and have replaced Monster almost altogether except for the rare afternoon pick me up if needed. I just have never liked the taste of coffee. Unfortunately due to my prolonged extensive use of caffeine, it doesn't have as much of an effect as it used to (I was drinking 4-6 monsters a day in college to make up for a major lack of sleep).

As far as the meal replacements go, Ammo is great. I take it as either a post workout or afternoon snack. It tastes great and is fairly filling with very little calories, which could be a good or a bad thing based on your goals. I am slightly over where I would like to be weight-wise so it's a good thing, but for those with high metabolism or a very active and demanding lifestyle they might want something more substantial for breakfast. I stick to the vanilla and add some Mio flavoring to give it some variety.
