BLM in Montana means a gov't agency with land holdings. I'm not sure about organics - I struggle to grow horse hay and some native flowers. Check the census- there are substantially more native americans and orientals than other minorities. My wife tells me that a minority is Croation and a majority is Italian and Irish.

Just pulling your chain. I was born and raised on the rez.

Haha, I heard the same thing from my dad 25 years ago, he complained how all of CA was taking over.

Personally winter in the Midwest can easily be colder then in MT but the difference is it doesn’t last very long before decent weather comes back.

In 30 years, my state will change.

Just like it did when my dad said the same 30 years ago.

And his dad.

Change is constant, known to occur.

The issue with change, and much to what my wife has to say, is idiotic.

"So we (bosnians) come here from Bosnia after the war, love this country, but still act like we did, think like we did, say the same old things and expect it to not somehow be right back to where we were."

Change is relatively the same occurrences, cyclical. People don't change. People are why Change is cyclical.

As we become "a more civilized people" we think we are immune from the texts of history.

Change and growth are the constant, the "x" in a formula, it is the natural state of order, nature's homeostasis.

You can not deviate from it.

You let me know when you have defeated change and growth, and I'll ring up the Nobel council.

I have lived in Western MT for 22 years and raised 3 kids here. It is a great place if you can enjoy all 4 seasons.

Nobody here is arguing that change is not a constant, what we're concerned about is what Montana is changing into: schools not allowing students to wear the American flag, land prices are unaffordable to people born here, access to hunting lands gone, protection of the wolves at all costs, making Montana more "diverse" etc etc. We dont want that, we dont want California or we would have moved there.

We cant control things changing or not, but by God we can to some degree shape what they turn into. Youre defeatist attitude while playing it off as trying to be pseudointellectual is absolutely pathetic and alot of whats wrong right now. Have you not tried to steer the direction of your life?? Why??? By your own logic you cant do anything about how it changes

View points such as this subject aren’t going to be properly conveyed in a few short responses. I thought it was constructive until your last paragraph, being abrasive isn’t going achieve anything.

my recommendation is to put up the effort. Many of the statements made, most will agree with in part or in whole.

i urge everyone to put more effort than just words on a forum. if you dont have the time, put up the money, if you dont have the money, put up the time. if you dont have the time or money, then let people know be spreading the message of what they can do to help change it. thats much more effective than stating whats wrong, anyone and everyone can do that.

me, ive put up the time (not exactly quantifiable outside 'i did this, or that') and the money (that needs to be reported). when the change i was hoping to help steer (as an individual in the grand scheme), changed for the better, i throttle back and readjusted what/where/when/why/how.

between the time, the money, the effort, and late nights, we-COLLECTIVELY- went from solid purple if not lean blue in 2012 to solid red in 2022.

If youd like to keep it constructive, we can, and we should. look towards your neighbors, be it down the street, next town over, next county over, next state over, and get to work.

Not sure how politics stems the tide of people flowing into Montana- build a wall, make it illegal to move to Montana, other????

I did see that the governor and legislature are considering several bills to return tax monies (evidently our coffers overflow-ith)- considering both state income tax and property tax. One thing they can surely do there is if you're not paying Montana income tax is you don't get any monies back from your property taxes in Montana. Not a resident, pound sand.

Maybe some sexy tv shows highlighting how nice Idaho and Wyoming are?

And if he (or anyone else) moves here, they should never utter the phrase "well that's not how it was done in......". Move here, or don't. Just don't try and make it like whatever sh!thole you are fleeing.
We are located in rural Western Iowa, and probably live more rural than a vast majority of folks on this forum. We're not looking to move to MT to change anything. We love it the way it is.

Per @Trackerbacker's maps, count north 5 counties from MO and east 3 counties from NE, and you have Carroll County, IA. This part of the state is reliably red, and we don't embrace a 'woke' lifestyle or home.

If we're able to move whole hog or purchase a second property out West, the main priorities are privacy and living rural (like we are today) with room to take a pi$$ outside and shoot guns without a neighbor complaining. We live 5 miles from town today and our nearest neighbor is over a mile away. Please don't throw us into the same bucket as the transplants headed to Bozeman, Missoula, etc..., that just want to lounge in coffee shops and complain about the winter.

I think your desires are possible in looking in the rural portions of the state for ranch/farm size parcels. Small parcels and near the larger cities come with the inheirent problems just like everyplace else.

Hey now...

...remember how Californians are changing Montanas schools?

Montanans won't know where Missouri is or counting up and over..common core math and all..

Please take our math with you if you go!

And our sense of directions and distance!

"Yup, bout 15 minutes that way"

At the point we are at it is going to be almost impossible to stop the spread of liberalism, wokeism, and the freak show.
I continue to hold out hope that this is simply another peak in a cycle. Think back to the 60's and 70's...peak hippy liberal nonesense. The children of those hippies rebelled against that and the country switched back to more conservative values during the 80's and 90's. I've already seen some exciting examples of the next generation rebelling against all of this nonsense they are being exposed to in schools.

i dont see how it would either, but inferring cali wrecking montana, one could deduce on their own the accord.

youll have to clarify this. if you bought property, and you pay property tax on it, and the state is electing to return some property tax that you paid, back to you, why would it matter if you are a resident or not?

if you dont pay income tax to a state, i can understand 100% why you should not get income tax back-even if you own property in that state.
