This is the way.I haven't round anything that really works. Some say cinnamon, some say cayenne, Irish spring dish soap... I've tried a lot. Only thing that has worked for me is sealing it up. Steel wool in every hole, with spray foam or pl400 subfloor adhesive to hold it in place. They make a rodent repellent spray foam, but I'd still use steel wool.
Put a radio out there and keep it on. Mice don’t like that.

These two items right here are by far the best I've used for mouse deterrents. Open the odor eliminator(it's some kind of gel)and poke it with a fork a bunch of times. Then pour the liquid Irish Spring over it. I let these sit in random spots on the floor of my cabin. I feel like I've tried everything over the years, but since I started using these the mice have almost totally disappeared.
