I stepped down from 3006 to 350 Legend and like it. Have a ruger american ranch w 16 barrel. Shoots lights out. I know can shoot 250 yards without too much drop. Not sure what it does between 250 and 300 yet.

Buy ammo or components first.

We still aren’t at a point where we cannot reliably find ammo.

My vote is for the 308 Win or 6.5 Creedmoor in a Kimber Hunter (or Montana). Ammo seems to be available in almost every flavor.

For grins, where have you found Kimber rifles in stock on a regular basis? Talking brick and mortar stores.

I'd buy 500 rounds of the Norma 308 ammo and then find a 308 Kimber Montana, Adirondack, or maybe a Bergara.

Well what I'd really do is make sure my 270 wsm had a great scope mounts and a great scope and then I'd only use it for everything.

Either way, good luck and have fun.

Kimber Montana in whatever flavor. Mine is a 6.5CM. With the factory brake it has no recoil. It’s endlessly light and easier to shoot well than I thought a light weight rifle would be. Mine wears a 2.5-10x32 viper PST with Talley rings. Packing it around at 11k ft in New Mexico was a breeze. I’d buy another one in a heartbeat.

Hard to beat a Kimber Montana (I like both my 257 Roberts and 280 Remington).

But don’t look past the BLR either. They carry well, offer rapid follow up shots in thick cover, and offer something “different”. At different times I’ve had them in 7mm-08, 308, and 358 Winchester - pistol grip, straight grip, stainless, blued, etc.

My 270WSM is an awesome rifle with an awesome scope-Browning xbolt long range VX3 4-14...I just want an excuse to buy another gun

If it’s legal where your at a fast twist 223 would be ideal especially for deer under 300 yards. Nothing wrong with a 243 or 6mm creed.
I really like the 223...one of the states I hunt in doesn't allow them unfortunately. I've shot lots of whitetails in with that caliber.

Lots of love for the Kimbers. I’ve been eyeballing this in 6.5 CM.

I have a Bergara B14 Ridge in 6.5 Creedmoor for my deer rifle. Love the rifle and have taken deer from 50 yards to a bit over 400 with confidence. It's a great rifle for the money. Good enough I bought another Bergara in 300 win mag.
