MKC fails to meet advertised Magnacut hardness?

I don’t really have too much to add here that hasn’t already been said. Just so everyone is aware there’s no such thing as “American” magnacut now. It is produced by erasteel in Europe. So MKC saying their knives are 100% USA made just even further falsifies their advertising along with all this hardness stuff.

They do all of their heat treating in house in large ovens. Large batch heat treating is not ideal because of the slow cooling rate/retained austenite. The hardness testing done by that individual was standard and he has no reason to falsify it. This is one of the main advantages of buying from a small maker. On top of that, it’s undeniable they are advertising higher hardnesses, but producing baby shit soft knives. Will they work? Yeah sure, but that’s not the point. Spend money on the product and not on all this disgusting influencer/social media marketing. They only care about growth not their product-it’s pretty clear. For the same money you can get a far superior product from many makers on this forum.
Yea the feeling I get is that purchasing from a maker is buying quality and supporting a craftsman. Purchasing from MKC is buying an image and a lifestyle that’s been marketed.
 
meanwhile back at the ranch....my cheap ass Morakniv knives keep on trucking. I have 7 of them spread out between my trucks, UTV's ditch bags, etc.

On a serious note, I hope MKC gets things straightened out. I want any and all American made products to succeed.

Yeah i bought a mini goat about 6 weeks ago. Havent even had a chance to use it yet. Most i have ever paid for a damn knife, just to read all this.
 
I have an MKC MagnaCut blade and so far the edge retention has been what’s impressed me the most. A few seasons and several critters later I still haven’t found the need to sharpen it, still shaves hair off my forearm.

Honestly surprised to hear some of this.

I was gifted a Blackfoot for Christmas last year. Used it on an Aoudad in early spring and it held an edge far better than any knife I've used thus far on one. I have found Aoudad to be very rough on an edge.

Maybe I got a good one or my standard of comparison is low.
