Hate to say the ringing is probably there to stay.
If you just want something for hunting try the tetra elk pods. They definitely help me pick up bugles and foot steps. But on windy days they can be annoying.

Watching animals even at 30 yards is like watching a TV on mute for me. Makes calling elk very hard.

In Oregon I've had someone mention there is some kind of state sponsored thing to get hearing aids. But so far I've been to lazy and cheap to really check into it.

I've had tinnitus from the Army and also training LE with firearms. And recently I've noticed it getting louder. I wear soft foam plugs and electronic muffs for shooting. And some kind of hearing protection for any loud noises.

Have you guys experiencing tinnitus been vaccinated?
I've been vaccinated and boosted and the tinnitus was constant prior to getting vaccinated. It's gotten louder but that's most likely from natural progression even with hearing protection. If I even swing a hammer without hearing protection it pretty much hurts my ears.

Roksliders :

I have some mild hearing loss [guns/power tools/etc]
I also have tinnitus

Recently I recovered from Covid.
Its was not a mild case, but managable.

But now it seems my tinnitus is significantly worse after Covid.

Does anyone have thoughts about hearing aids for hunting, or help with the tinnitus?
Curiousity got the best of me and it looks like there are reports and some studies suggesting that sudden hearing loss and tinnitus could be covid related. Could be from an inner ear infection or a neurological thing. It seems to be rare and even rarer are reports of getting tinnitus from the vaccinations. It's hard to gauge with hunters or shooters since firearms can cause a great deal of hearing damage. I wouldn't dismiss it. I just try to protect my hearing as much as possible.

I feel for her. I’ve had parosmia (smell and taste) for 20 months and 15 months, respectively. There’s a FB group that may be of interest to her.

It’s rough for sure. She’s in the group and has her foods, but it’s been mostly meal replacement shakes to stave off the weight loss.

Have you guys experiencing tinnitus been vaccinated?

She has not been, but this started before vaccines were available anyway.

EDIT: it’s worth noting she hasn’t complained of hearing loss, isn’t exposed to loud noises often, and had no tinnitus prior to Covid.

I recently met with my new PCP and expressed my concerns about how my immune system seems to suck since I had covid. I went from getting sick almost never to getting sick quite regularly. I have kids in school now which I didn't previously so that could be the explanation, but what he told me about post covid raised my eyebrows.

He said that the conditions he has seen people develop post covid are unprecedented. He has seen, memory issues, gut issues, arthritis issues, cognitive abilities impaired, lung function affected, heat issues developed. Basically he was conveying that there is more un known about the long term effects of covid then there is known.

I’ve had a little tinnitus from playing too much loud music when I was in bands, but I got it bad on my right ear after two days of standing next to a CNC machine. That frequency of the cooling liquid shooting out of the nozzle just killed my ear on that frequency. It literally squeals at times. Since having Covid, both the normal and induced tinnitus are slightly worse.

What sucks the most is being out in the middle of nowhere and knowing I should hear nothing, but hearing that damn ringing. Just ruins everything peaceful.

My wife is still dealing with this, over a year later. It was bad before she got pregnant but during her first trimester she ended up in the hospital for 16 days, and on tpn for two months. We figure the parosmia combined with the hormones made it much worse.

She still can’t eat certain things. It hasn’t really gotten better either. Atleast she’s off home healthcare and the picc line is out so she can do somewhat normal things.

Specialists in our area have had no answers. Steroids seemed to help, but are not a permanent fix.

Most parents go through that in the first 4-5 years following their kids going to daycare/school, so perhaps not a cause for concern?

Having said that, it seems like the medical community continues to identify new COVID-related side effects. The tinnitus identified in this thread is a great example. Just read an article the other day that it appears that COVID may contribute to a ~20% increase in male sexual disfunction. A good friend from one of my hockey teams (51 y/o male in good health) is still not able to play after a bout of COVID he had in the fall. Sounds like his lungs are trashed and not substantially recovering.

Yeah I'm not too concerned anymore but initially I was very thrown off, I could go years without getting sick. But now it seems like once a month I'm coming down with something.

I've had it for as long as I can remember. I'll quit drinking for a month or two every year and I agree that it gets better. I read somewhere that alcohol and caffeine make it worse.

Costco has some surprisingly good hearing aids. I'd suggest stopping there and comparing. As someone who is self insured, they saved me a ton of money.

I had tinnitus before covid. I was forced to get vaccinated. I got covid a month and a half after getting the J&J vaccine. I really haven't noticed it being any different but mine is pretty significant.

Also work in Healthcare. I have a partner that suffered significant hearing loss post COVID, deaf in one ear. He ended up with a cochlear implant which has significantly improved his ability to perform his job again. Crazy
