Interesting. What was Bryan’s excuse for not paying? How did he explain himself?

Lots of excuses really. First he tried to blame bank wire transfer problems. He insisted that the money was sent, just an error at the bank. Obviously, nobody believed that.
I think it’s fairly obvious that as deposits kept rolling in during the COVID years but hunts weren’t happening, income dried up and deposit money became living money. Pure speculation on my part and it really doesn’t matter. The fact is that he stole from numerous people and my guess is that the list continues to grow.

a year ago I was told Brian was going to be kicked out of WSF or one of the other orgs for not actually making good on the donated hunts, not sure if anything ever happened but didn't sound good.

As long as he’s in business, 3/4 of his hunts go off without a hitch and organizations continue to support him, people will continue to book with him. This is exactly why I posted this here, so everyone can read about what he’s done and will continue to do until he’s stopped.

Help me understand why you guys paid him. Did you feel bad that guide didn’t have the cash in his hand from the booking agent Bryan or what?

How do you know that the guide wasn’t lying to you and he took both of your money?

Is Bryan refunding you guys the difference?

Furthermore, you keep better company than me if someone had the extra $40,000 lying around to pay this guide. lol He would have been SOL if it was me. lol

Bryan never paid the local guy, Saku, for the Marco Polo. The govt tag on a Marco Polo in Kyrgyzstan is about $20k so it’s crazy to think that a local guy could cough up $20k and eat his people’s fees, food, fuel, lodging, etc.
Bryan’s job is to take the hunt fees from us, the hunters, get them to he local outfitters and make sure everything goes smoothly while we’re there. He obviously did none of that.

I’m not going to take the time to reply to all of this but if you reread my original post, you’ll find that none of your assumptions are correct.
If Bryan had the money to refund, the trip wouldn’t have gone the way it did and my hunting buddy would’ve gone Marco Polo hunting. Bryan would have just paid the outfitter in the first place.

I don't do outfitted hunts. I would assume that the financial part would be taken care of at the airport over lunch or something. I am just surprised that this came up a couple days into your hunt.

Like I said originally, my hunt has been paid in full since 2019. I’m just a working guy and outfitters generally understand that so they will let you book a hunt a few years out and just send them cash until it’s paid off. This is what I did.
The other guys on the hunt paid their deposits plus some and then brought the balance in cash. Bryan used this cash to pay the local outfitter for our ibex (obviously, we didn’t know this part). This is what bought him a couple of days plus the fact that he kept telling the local guy, Saku, that it was a bank wire problem and that it should come through anytime.

Great ibex! Had the NM tag and been fascinated with them since even though I never even got close to one on that hunt.

Out of random curiosity, any issues travelling into the country with $40k cash? Or is that fairly normal over there.

For the record, I would never recommend traveling overseas with more than $5-7k cash. I also set up a temporary checking account, deposit $3-5k in it and use that debit card exclusively while traveling so that if anyone steals this card info, it doesn’t affect my “real” bank account.

In all honesty this post is not a surprise. As previously mentioned, a little google research turns up a number of stories such as this one regarding this outfitter, going back a long time. I truly am amazed he is still in business.

I would encourage you to contact as many hunting organizations as you can like WSF, GSCO, DSC, SCI, etc and share your experience with Bryan. You are far from alone, and it is important that unethical crooks get the boot from the industry. I know Byan's problems began well before covid with people never receiving their trophies after the hunt because of empty promises of paying outfitters. I was also told of well-known, very wealthy GSCO member (whose name I won't share) who booked a six-figure markhor hunt through Byan, and like you, Bryan never paid the outfitter and is now the center of numerous lawsuits. A little online research will show why Bryan lost his Canadian Mtn Outfitters business after he was caught guiding bighorn sheep hunters in closed areas among other wildlife crimes.

Congrats for salvaging your hunt and coming back with a nice trophy and a memorable experience!

He was suspended for 3 years from donating or exhibiting by the WSF. This was due to the item mentioned above.
