I’m interviewing for a job near Meeker and haven’t spent anytime in the area. We lived along the I-70 corridor 30 years ago in a tiny town and loved it. Depending on how the interview goes I plan on taking a trip to the area to spend some time and try to judge if we could be happy there. We own our home here in central Oregon and would rent it out to so we can always come back if it doesn’t work. Hoping there are some people here who can share their experiences with the area and any insights they may have about the community.

We hunt (elk, deer, upland, predators) and fly fish year round, ride bikes or trail run daily. My wife and I spend the majority of our time at home on work days (bars and restaurants aren’t a regular occurrence for us) and on days off are in the woods/desert camping and exploring between seasons. We have no children, just a couple of old dogs.

Meeker, your closest town is Craig I think, the "Big City" would be Steamboat or Glenwood. Sure you know this already. As long as the pay covers the cost of living and allows you to put some away you are probably ahead of 95% of the people up there.

I grew up in Steamboat Springs and would absolutely consider living in Meeker for outdoor activities as long as you are okay with a small town. There is great hunting and fishing around there.

I’m sitting in Meeker right now for third rifle. Great people for a small town! This is our first hunting here but seems promising.

I come from the Texas panhandle but have spent a little time around Meeker. It is beautiful and definitely a place I would move to. Seems like a place you could spend outdoors year round. I’m a little jealous of your opportunity.
