Meateater generates profits from its audience. Buying a book, watching videos on Netflix/Youtube, or even listening to a podcast... It all generates profits for Meateater (and now TCG). But I'll be darned if I'm going to generate profits for a company that supports limiting anyone's civil rights if I can avoid it. As a result (I say this as a long-time consumer of the show, books, and podcasts), and regretfully, I feel I'm being forced to "tune out"

See above: Well said.

He sold out, plain and simple.
How would you feel if Public Lands were being sold?
Meat Eater has always been at the top of my list but I
can no longer support.
He can go hang out with Zumbo as far as I'm concerned.
He stepped out a little too far for the sake of a $$$$$.

So having the gall to ask "what's that all about" is being an SJW? Interesting. Duly noted.

Ya how dare us.

Not in the least, asking what something is about is different than grabbing the pitchforks and torches.

Way to be passive aggressive though.

Just some thoughts to add:

I'm really surprised that people are... surprised that a crew who claim natural resource conservation and ecology as a cause would seek support from Democrats. Really? Even if you hold conservative values you have to admit the GOP has been absolutely horrible for things like ecology and conservation.

If you want some masturbation on gun issues then seek out those who have claimed that cause... I listen to and read from some sources who are ideologically opposite to one another and the sun has yet to explode.

Lastly... if you boil down your political beliefs to a single issue then it just says you are lazy. Lazy enough to never seek out the nuances of society and instead hide behind a single moral banner rather than expose your philosophy to risk. A big driver of the crippling partisanship we have in the US today is this mental cowardice.

Telling a woman what she can or can't do with her body/ fetus that she is carrying , is right up there with telling people that they can't hunt, or with what tools that they can or cannot use to hunt with, or for that matter, OWN. It's a lost argument. I am a Christian

Are you saying that you are Christian..........or A Christian? Big difference. Lots of people claim Christianity that don't have salvation at all. The Holy Spirit doesn't convict one Christian that abortion is OK, and then convict other Christians that's it's not OK. A house divided cannot stand. So I'd re-evaluate your Christianity immediately, and make your salvation sure.

Just curious... the Republican Party started as an abolitionist party. Very single issue. Were they “hiding behind a moral banner”? Lazy? Cowardly? A driver of crippling partisanship (that ultimately resulted in a war)? Is the issue surrounding 13th amendment “nuanced”?

I would offer that my soapbox in that post was more directed at individual persons and not at a coordinated community uniting behind a belief in a more equitable party. Abolition was a noble and honorable cause and further served as a great unifier when it became clear there would be a literal single-issue war about slavery. However, our society is still dealing with the effects and nuances of such a struggle today. I don't think anyone can dispute that.

I think my example for the individual would be more pertinent if, let's say, someone attended an Abolitionist Rally in 1859. During the event they discovered that a party leader had some contrary, non-Abolition related belief. Due to that the individual swore off Abolition as a movement of "them" while that sole individual stayed in his comfortable moral camp with his "us". I think we can see that a bit in this very thread as users, supposedly united for a cause, choose to build strawmen or cannibalize that cause for abortion-related issues.

Those are my brief, pre-coffee and exercise thoughts so excuse any brevity or disjointed jumps.

FWIW, I think abortion is abhorrent but am politically Pro-Life simply because I understand the arguments supporting that belief and who am I to force my Spiritual beliefs on others?

I Truly Truly HATE that MeatEater was sold to a leftist group. It was one of the few hunting shows I still enjoyed. I pay extra to get the Sportsman channel just so I can get it and a few other shows. I guess Meat Eater had grown all it could in the hunting world so they sold out to expand in to other markets. Time will tell who those OTHER markets will be. I'm not saying they make a bad decision for them, but it is for me. At this point I'm not sure I can enjoy the show going forward, knowing the profits it makes are supporting an agenda that despises me & most everything I believe in. But to be fair I worked for a company that was/is far left and I took that pay check every week knowing who they were. I cant throw mud for someone else doing the same thing.

That Rinella. The guy knows no boundaries. I just listened to his whole speech- and not once did he touch on birth control- much less abortion. The guy totally skirt ed the issue. A total deflection. Very disappointed.
Agreed, the issue isn't relevant. What is relevant is the Federalist link--the elephant in the room that few will address.

Bowing out on this one, don't know R, don't give a sh!t about M.E., but I always regret seeing lost ground with anything gun or hunt affiliated, and in this case that's a certainty with Chernin's toxic, anti-gun wake....

Carry on....

This is turning in a big job, I have to research all the board members and directors of every organization and corporation that my money goes to in one way or another. Make sure none of my hard earned money is filtering it's way into a liberal political agenda. Whew, it's going to a long haul.

Once I finished that I'm going to have to track down all the suppliers of those companies....another massive task.

Then I have to cross reference all the liberal agenda NGOs and see who their partners and corporate sponsors are and make sure my money doesn't hit those businesses either.

Being a right wing is so much work!

Dont forget to research the family members. Just because a board member isnt a outward liberal doenst mean their wifes or husbands arent. Just think. They take their pay checks home and the liberal spouse donates to planned parenthood.
Your money might cause that atrocity if you dont do your due diligence
