A few awesome replies! I'm going to be offering MeatEater-proof gun safes for your guns before Steve comes to take them, plus our womenz, plus all our meat!
Good on FL and ME, hope and expect their partnership to be good for both (now one...) companies. In addition to Sloan, wonder who else will be coming on board in the development world for the combined group. There's a continual migration among designers/sourcing people in the outdoor world: Patagonia to Simms, to Sitka, to "fill in name of new company here" to North Face to ArcTeryx to Mystery Ranch to Oboze etc and so on, and it's mostly good for the brands and people. Not just staff, but free agents/consultants. Hope FL accepts the "help" I'm guessing they'll get - combining cultures after aquisition is as easy and predictable as root canals. Positive press releases are nice, but entrepreneur/owners often chafe at the bit when gentle instructions start flowing.
Just hope that all the new gear is organic, recyclable, fair wage, free range, sustainable, made by flannel wearing artisans in solar powered and heated facilities that have "safe spaces" in case someone's insulted in any way, that the staff is gender-fluid and does yoga.
