Its a plot by the progressive globalists agenda to get the consumer to spend all of their expendable money on hunting clothes and media consumption and the rest on student loan payments so that it eventually puts the firearm manufacturers out of business. Then rinella comes to personally confiscate your firearms

Yep! Makes perfect sense if you don’t think about it. Sneaky bastards.

I just hope they can bring in diversity to first lite....things are pretty pale over there, and we know how detrimental that can be.

Maybe non-gender specific clothing?

I forgot about the part where they use their combined, massive email list to send out malware that includes child porn so that all hunters/firearm owners can be framed for breaking federal laws. It’s the same way they are taking Alex Jones down.

I was waiting for this. It is the second step.

First the antihunting/antigun meateater "crew" will sneak in with years and years of posting about hunting and eating meat etc to get a good base of customers. Pretending to be progun and prohunting the entire time. When in actuality they are gun stealin liberal commies that want to destroy our American heritage! They will have everyone staring into their phones and constantly monitoring what people post and say.

The next step is to acquire a outdoor clothing company. Not the largest but one that has a very strong following...almost a rabid following. They have been partnering with FL for years. Eventually they will convince their customer base that camo doesn't matter...that solid browns are the way to go if you are truly a "super hunter". Once they have their entire customer base dressed in solid browns they will move on to step three.

Step three is to convince the customer base that a certain pair of boots is the only way to go. Eventually they will have the majority wearing schnees. Then schnees will switch from leather/camo etc to just straight black boots.

Step four is to activate all the "customers" and constantly watch what everyone is doing through their media outlet. Basically keeping an eye on dissenters and silencing them immediately. The screens see all. If you disagree with their stance on anything...putting BBQ sauce on tenderloin for example...you will have brown shirted black booted thugs at your door to teach you a lesson.

Step five they have their army of brown shirt black booted thugs go out and do thug things. Anyone that disagrees with Chaos ensues. By that point they should have Rinella in a political office that will give him tons of power...in a puppet master sort of way. Plus all the other "sleeper cell" types that are already in political office. Cal will then run for president. Everyone will vote for him...liberals, conservatives, libertarians...the mustache is the great unifier. Big brother had a mustache....Cal has a mustache...coincidence I think not!

The final step: 1984.

I knew it!!

If I disappear without trace please make sure to pass on my good morel spots to my children. The maps are buried behind my shed in a glass jar under a lilac bush. You will know which one if I am gone. God speed!

A few awesome replies! I'm going to be offering MeatEater-proof gun safes for your guns before Steve comes to take them, plus our womenz, plus all our meat!

Good on FL and ME, hope and expect their partnership to be good for both (now one...) companies. In addition to Sloan, wonder who else will be coming on board in the development world for the combined group. There's a continual migration among designers/sourcing people in the outdoor world: Patagonia to Simms, to Sitka, to "fill in name of new company here" to North Face to ArcTeryx to Mystery Ranch to Oboze etc and so on, and it's mostly good for the brands and people. Not just staff, but free agents/consultants. Hope FL accepts the "help" I'm guessing they'll get - combining cultures after aquisition is as easy and predictable as root canals. Positive press releases are nice, but entrepreneur/owners often chafe at the bit when gentle instructions start flowing.

Just hope that all the new gear is organic, recyclable, fair wage, free range, sustainable, made by flannel wearing artisans in solar powered and heated facilities that have "safe spaces" in case someone's insulted in any way, that the staff is gender-fluid and does yoga.

I'm actually glad to hear this news. I was worried that MeatEater would get pulled into the Bozeman orbit and eventually switch to Sitka, which would in turn hurt First Lite.

I like some stuff from First Lite and some from Sitka; but I think it's best for us if they both continue as robust presences in the market.

You forgot to factor in how the camo underwear will fit in with all of this.

I wonder what MeatEater thinks can be improved. Generally you buy a business because one of the following (or some combination): a) undervalued, b) could be improved, c) you want to diversify, d) you want to grow (or protect against a competitor).

Anyway, this looks to be a positive news thing.

I think D. They will continue to make strategic purchases of products/brands that fit the skit. Also, many times a company’s inability to expand and do R&D/take risks is because they can’t afford the cash outlay and don’t want to go in debt on a chance. Getting some of Chernins money will free them a bit to do that. I’ve seen this exact thing happen several time over the last year.
