Yes. They wanted the $10K investments from their customer to pay for the mold. I am happy it will be available, I just was not committed to financing their business growth. Had they offered a decent discount over list pricing I may have considered.

How dare those a-holes bring something new to market and ask people to put their money where their mouth is when requesting the product. Then, on top of all of it, come to market quickly at a price that’s reasonable!

It was only 5k for the molds (50 backers at $100 each). Sure, a discount would have been nice, but didn’t bother me at all.

If tikka stocks were a huge portion of their regular sales, I’m sure they would have made the mold themselves without backers. I’m sure it gets old to hear “if you’d make X Y or Z, I’d buy it in a heartbeat”. Then when you make it, no one buys since there’s no skin in the game.

I thought I heard that none of the “big guys” wanted to entertain the concept. Seems to jive with most of them doing minor tweaks on the same stuff for the last decade even though gunwerks has long since shown the way..

It’s a bummer that the production/quality struggles have happened because it was great that everyone jumped at the project.

So I actually ordered a Mountain Tracker LR for my Kelbly Nanook about a month after the Tikka. Looked at my invoice yesterday and realized that was the stock being sent out.

A quick email to McMilan confirmed this, they also stated my Tikka stock should be done early next week. Excited to have both soon!
